Question I have and probably a few others who are getting more and more anxious as applications near!

I might get a C in microbiology this semester 🙁
If I were to get the A my sGPA would be 3.89, but with a C it brings it down to 3.80.

Now I know this is still a good sGPA, but at what point does a whole .1 change in GPA stop mattering to adcoms. 3.4-3.5, 3.5-3.6, 3.6-3.7, 3.7-3.8, 3.8-3.9, 3.9-4.0? Is it like the DAT were 19-20 is significant, but 25-26 isn't that significant? Or at either stage it's pretty significant?

There aren't really any hard rules. Just keep your GPA as high as you can. A 3.8 GPA is still awesome.

how much did you win?
You're fine. I got a C in one class my last quarter and got interviews

i was extremely lucky, which is really weird because im never lucky, and after only a couple months of playing lotto i managed to win about negative 35 dollars then i realized i couldve bought like 25 mcdoubles with that so i needed to eat instead

I already have 2 Cs in my transcript though (non science) so idk if that makes it look thaaat much worse, i hope not

This is basically the definition of "stressing over nothing." Really. Your GPA is great. Obviously a C isn't what you want but realize adcoms have 2k+ applications to review, a single drop in .1 sGPA isn't going to end your career.

I had a pre nursing girl in my undergrad human anatomy course literally break down and cry in our lab when she got a B on our 2nd midterm once. So some people stress far worse.

So I am actually in a quite similar situation as OP. As this point it is very likely that I am going to get a B- in Anatomy, which would be my lowest grade ever. I did the math and it would probably pull my overall GPA from a 3.61 to a 3.53, so it goes down by a 0.08. Luckily my sGPA will not change much as I'll probably earn A's in my other science classes. I have a good DAT score to back up my GPA though. Does the fact that I did poorly in a prereq class matter, or am I worrying too much? I am bad at biology/anatomy in general due to my inability to memorize terms, so is my bad grade in undergrad Anat a prediction for how I will do in dental school's anat?

How is 1 C dropping your GPA 0.09 points? Unless you're in first year or something...

Dude we're the same, ill have a overall gpa of like 3.62 or something, but like you i have a decent DAT score to back up gpa, so I think we're good, we're just worrying and stressing, i just think to my gap semester and how i'll travel europe as a bum and i feel loads better

I am actually a senior graduating 2 weeks from today. I major in Chemistry, and my grade is a good mix of A's and B's.

Hope so too. It's great that you're taking a gap semester, I'm also graduating and taking a gap year which will be very relaxing for me. I am a dudette by the way.
