For the clinical experiences on the secondary app, are we allowed to copy and paste the description of our activities from AACOMAS or should we rewrite a new description? Does anyone know if there are word/character limits?

When did you get the secondary/when did you submit? I can't help with your Q, but I am curious.

Also, just saw this on the KCOM website: "Do not duplicate essay material from your AACOMAS application"

oh that helps a lot! thanks! haha. never saw that before. and i just go the email today

however, it isn't essay material. it is just the descriptions for the activities.

if it makes you guys feel better, my aacomas was verified on 6/1. so my app was sent out to the school on the 15th.

I think it should be fine to copy and paste. Unless you want to be more specific. I'm adding a few more things here and there but otherwise my descriptions are the same.

For anyone who is wondering, I submitted my app on 6/9, verified yesterday and received their secondary this afternoon. Seems like they send one to everyone so keep checking your email.

Oh wow that early lol. I'm not sure how they send them out alphabetical wise. Have you checked your spam folder?

I got one too and my stats are 3.34c 3.29s 500 & 501 MCAT, so I don't think it has anything to do with stats hahaha don't worry peeps

on the website it says anyone who meets the min gpa of 2.8 will receive a secondary. so that's pretty much everyone haha

did you find out this? wondering the same thing...can you copy and paste?

I got my secondary from ATSU SOMA and I am really confused with having to write my experience again.

Are we supposed to not only describe the experience (as there is character limit on AACOMAS and not this one) but also describe how you learn/experience/grow from those experience? Like should I say something like "since I started volunteer at this place I started to realize the importance of XYZ blah blah blah..."?

I feel like I am just paraphrasing my own work hahahaha

I feel the same about the atsu arizona one as well, I almost feel like we need to highlight and expand on the *important* experiences...but yeah it feels like you're regurgitating your app

"You can use the same activity descriptions....there isn't a character or word limitations on the clinical experience section."
This is the email response I got. Still not sure if we should expand on our experiences or what...

Who did you email? If this is true then it'll help a lot.

I don't know why secondaries have these extra clinical experience etc. sections meanwhile we already completed that stuff on aacomas....

I definitely wouldn't copy/paste the answers from the AACOMAS app, but somebody in this email response said it was ok. I felt like writing new descriptions was redundant, but sitting down and actually doing it brought up new things to talk about that wouldn't have fit in the AACOMAS character limits. For each activity I tried to show what I learned and how it changed me or would make me a better doctor, whereas on my AACOMAS app it was more a description of what the activity itself entailed.

Bottom line, your activities over the last four (or however many) years affected you and the secondary is a chance to tell more of that story to the adcom.
