I didn't see a post for the 8/26 MCAT, so I'm wondering if anyone is taking it on August 26? Have you started taking practice exams? Are you still reviewing the material? Is this your first MCAT?

I just started reviewing and will be taking my first practice MCAT tomorrow. Good luck everyone!! 🙂

sooo ealier today i finished my LAST PRACTICE TEST EVER (crossed fingers) and just finished reviewing it. my scores are consistent so im content. not really sure what to do the next couple of days...definitely planning on relaxing/beaching, even though i know i will be very tempted to open a review book!
im so so excited to finally have my life back! and im sure all of you can relate!
good luck to everyone, we're almost there!!😍

What you get for a score? 10/10/10? Im soo exicted but so nervous that if I do bad imma have to study again!!! AHHHHHHHHHH

Ahhh! It's coming up. I'm getting so nervous it's affecting my studying. One more practice test to go (AAMC 8 tomorrow), then thorough review on Monday. My date with destiny is at 12 noon.....

Hopefully, she's not ugly.

hopefully this time she'll be easy...you just gotta smack her around a little bit 😉

and to the other post....i scored 10,10,10 aamc 4-7..but 8 9 and 10 have seen a few points improvement 🙂 which will hopefully extend till tuesday!
studying again for this test is something i simply dont evn wanna think about!! mehhh its taken over my life, i even dream about it!! sometimes i'll lie awake in bed thinking about what its gonna be like when i get my scores...ocassionally it'll be a 40, and ill be too excited to fall asleep.. haha weird??
it sucks, because by the time the exam is over all my friends are back at school...and i barely got to see them at all the whole summer : / on the other hand, the library is my new bff. and bf. much to the dismay of the previous

Aaaah freaking out! I can't believe how soon this test is! I've been doing fine on practice tests...this last week I scored one 36 and one 37 (aamc though...easyyy) but today I keep bombing EK verbal practice tests! I'm trying to do everything I can at this point not to go crazy and overstudy...panic is never good, right? ahhhh is anyone else going insane??

ps- good luck, and I hope to see you all in med school!

Yeah, insane is a good way to put it. I set out to do the entire EK 1001 physics yesterday, did about 300 questions and then hit a wall, tried reading some of the FAQ posts here, couldn't focus on that either, so I just bought a six pack and watched some cartoons till late. Woke up early and tired, hopefully I can sleep early tonight and tomorrow that way.

Here's to 35 +'s for everyone come Tuesday!

I'm hoping for a pretty hard version actually. In going through some of the threads from previous exams it seems the people in the "easier" exams got absolutely killed on their score because there was virtually no curve as the median was so high. Looking through other threads from one month later had most people reporting scores they were very happy with but mentioning that they thought they didn't do well because it was such a hard exam. If the exam seems too easy I'll be pretty concerned. Nerves are starting to set in.

Did I mention I haven't practiced any writing samples yet? 😀

Well the trend, from what I've been reading, is that most of the exams this summer were pretty difficult in general and haven't really heard any "easy" ones this time around. I'm hoping it's more balanced and not insanely difficult nor a cake walk(had it ever been one?). Biggest concern is verbal difficulty, for me at least.

I also haven't really been practicing writing but most prompts are either about politicians or businesses so as long as you follow the generic formula, can't be too bad.

Gosh im finally done reviewing content and took last AAMC today.. Tomorrow is just a relax day. Anyone getting anxious?!! Im nervous because I did better on aamc 9+10 (30,33) and I just took aamc 8 today and did worse ack (29). I hope I dont get the same score on Tuesday!

Most people around here claim 8 is one of the hardest so I wouldn't get too bent out of shape about it, although the curve should even things out. I'm getting a bit jumpy...long lists of things I'd like to do still but time is catching me.

i can't believe we're taking the MCAT tomorrow! i hope the real test isn't too much more difficult than the AAMC practice tests.

we're almost done!

Oh I hope you are right! Anyways there is nothing I can really do at this point. Good luck finishing that list of stuff

The big debate now is whether or not to focus on review or do something to relax the brain for half the day, such as yard work or something.

To put this in MCAT terms, think of the brain and the information contained in it as being represented by a membrane bound organelle that has a concentration gradient and increasing rates of effusion out of the brain as the concentration increases inside of it. For every 3 data bits pumped in 2 alternate bits are pumped out 😉. (that's the reverse of the real thing I know) So do we keep pumping in more the day before to make sure to offset the leak down? Does the engine spin down and have more difficulty getting back up to speed with a days break?

Theory 2: There is some magical brain function that requires additional periods of relaxation, beyond a full nights sleep, to interweave all of the information it already has? The brain is somehow recharged and ready to think more clearly after a period of inactivity or changed focus?

Theory 3: The author would most support which of the following statements?😛

today i suddenly got really really nervous!! yesterday i spent the day at the beach, hoping to just relax. but by the end of the night i was just like "crap! im taking the mcats!!" so today im just reviewing a bit to keep myself sane..
good luck everyone 🙂

Yeah Im glued to this site and having my notes in front of me. I told myself I would do nothing.. but sitting around has been making me anxious and everyone is at work. Are any of you planning on applying this cycle?

Good luck tomorrow, guys! I took the exam 8/22. It'll be here (and over) before you know it, and then you guys get to play the month waiting game with us for scores.

Hrmmm, I'm thinking about doing AAMC 10 or chunks of it without timing to get me in the question frame of mind without time pressure. Hrmmm. Content review or CBT10 questions or relax and watch a movie? Maybe I should do some of CBT10 tomorrow morning before going to the test center?

Ya, I'm applying to M.D. and D.O. schools. The application is already in, just waiting on this MCAT.

yep...the nerves are definitely starting to hit...i've been doing some light review today...nothing too intense...hoping to finish reviewing this material around 8-ish so's I can kick back and watch the telly.

Yo guys,

Just wanted to wish all of you the best of luck. I was originally set to write at this date but pushed mine back to September so let me know if I made the right decision! Haha, best wishes all.

Hi all, good luck tomorrow.

I took the 8/22 MCAT-some advice...

Stay relaxed when you start the PS section. Before you start, you will get a feeling of "oh my god this is the damn MCAT", so take 10-15 seconds to let the feeling soak in.

Then let your training do its work. Once you start, you will get into the flow of it and won't look back.

Again, good luck tomorrow!:luck::luck::luck::luck: :luck::luck::luck::luck:

Good luck everyone!

Also, if anyone's trying hard not to study but is looking for something to stay occupied, I recommend going to see "Tropic Thunder." Watched it yesterday afternoon as part of my "weekend unwinding" or whatever and it was one of the better movies I've seen recently.

thanks 🙂 ....yeah it's really tough now for me to go over this stuff...the butterflies in my stomach are kicking in......

Good luck guys. Kick some MCAT ass, and for the love of god stop studying right now. Go watch a movie or something.

Still here yup. I don't sleep till 2 am generally - I'm so bloody lucky there are noon administrations this year...

I'm having a quick bite before going to bed. I'm starting to feel a bit brain fried again after studying all day. I might have to get up early and just laze about.

Well, off to bed now.

So much for a lazy day - I read the entire EK series through again.

I'll take a lazy day the one after tomorrow.

😀

I'm starting to freak out, yo

i feel like there's so much i dont know well and so much i could've studied had i just started a week earlier

same with not knowing enough examples for essays

=*(

I'm gonna start getting ready for my noon exam. Good Luck everyone, make sure this will be the last time you have to take this beast. And remember to party hard afterwards!

Leaving in about 45min myself. Good luck all.

I got some good sleep, which was a huge concern, so now I just need to try and stay focused the entire time. I never did manage to practice any writing passages, I hope I don't completely blow that 😀,

good luck again every one, im eatin nw, will leave in a few minutes. anybody taking in Delaware. good luck.

First to Report!

PS: pretty tough, lots of calculations which chewed up a lot of time. weird calculations too. id say quite a bit tougher than any of the aamcs (i rocked those, usually only got 1-3 wrong). i usually finish practice tests with about 15mins. i had only 1 min left on this test to figure out the last question, which i couldnt so i guessed.

verbal: about the same as aamc tests, i didnt think it was too hard. the passages were normal length, nothing unusual. but as always, you never really know your verbal score.

ws: standard. prompts were pretty easy

bs: fairly tough. only 1 orgo passage, but i think orgo is easy. there was one real tough passage on UTI's that i did at the end. usually finish practice tests with about 10min left. worked until the end on this test.

I got a 39 on aamc10. im hoping for a 13,10,13 to get a 36.

take home message: harder than the aamc tests, but i hope the curve is more forgiving as a result because getting the same percentage correct on thee real deal would be wayyy tougher.

NOTE FOR FUTURE TEST-TAKERS: the biggest difference between this exam and the practice aamc is "assurance" in the sense that during the practice physical/bio sciences, i was 100% sure for about 90-95% of my answers. don't expect this on the real deal. it can be tough to deal with while you take the test but you should keep moving. i probably could have went a bit faster.

so i just came back from my first ever mcat. after sacrificing an entire summer studying my ass off and scoring 30-33 on each aamc i felt really confident going into today's exam.all i have to say is....WHAT THE FREAKING F**K.

Physics-not terribly bad..i loved the chem. physics was ok except for 2 passages about eletricity/capacitance. im pretty dumb and ran out of time (which never happens) so basically had to guess on like 6 questions.GREAT. ughhh.

verbal-really dont remember. okiguess?

writing-whateves

bio-ok now here's the REAL WTF. what was thepoint of studying everything when nothing was on the test???? there was a TON of molecular/cancer stuff and lots of random **** ididnt know. omg this just sucked hardcore.

i left the place basically crying (which is what i normally do regardless of how i did) but honestly, i really dont know what to think right now.
im only going into my junior year so i know i have more chances, but the mcats put me through hell once i really dont wanna have to do it again.
this was ALOT harder than any aamc..they put you into a false sense of security.
some encouragement would be nice...
predicted score??
uhhhh 20?????? jfdkhlsk;dfkfgh!!!
and i know its not nerves...because i wassoexcited going into it, so confident. meehhhh

Ach just got back from the day of death and, of course, the first thing I am doing is checking out what everyone else thinks. Heres what I thought (since none of my friends care/have any idea what I'm talking about and just keep saying...oh you're so smart you'll be fineeeeee! f*** that its the freakin MCAT!!!!)

P.S.- Thought it was wicked easy. Halfway through, I was actually chuckling a little b/c I thought I was going to nail it. I was doing fine on time, and was relaxed while still energized. Then, next thing I knew, I had five minutes left, an entire passage, and a couple questions I had skipped and marked! Ended up guessing on half of the questions on the last passage, all the questions I had left blank earlier, and THEN, I realized I had completely forgot about the last page of stand alones...with 10 seconds left. Clicked as fast as I could to guess randomly, and didn't even answer two. I was so mad at myself! Way to blow it.

V- This was the section I knew I needed to improve on the most from last time, and did a pretty good job of putting my PS f***up out of my mind. Questions were hard though, but I did finish, barely, and think I did at least decently well.

Writing- Whatever. Wrote some pretty lame essays, but who cares.

BS- I'm use to feeling really confidant about this section, but this time, I couldn't stop beating myself about the PS and had trouble focusing on the passages and had trouble figuring out where to even start w/the questions. Usually finish at least 10min early, but I used the whole time. In the end I think I did fine, but nowhere near as well as I am use to.

Bottom line, I'm pretty bummed out. Was hoping for a 35+ but think I can kiss that score goodbye. aaahhhhh

Five words, one acronym: FUBAR.

That was probably the hardest test - perhaps hardest MCAT - I've ever been unfortunate enough to have to take. Here's the take-home kids: Live, learn and fight another day. It's not the end of the world, we're not idiots and it's just a test. Now go get crunked...

i effing voided it.......alkdjsflajsdflkjasd now i'm trying to see if i can take it next week....blllljaskldfjlkajsdflkjasldfk....death and destruction.....!!!🙁

physics - i thought this was incredibly easy. prob tough curve as a result.
verb - about average compared to aamc
bio - two passages were superhard. at the end i had 5 mins left and i went over one of hte two superpassages and i think i got'em all right tho so w/e nice curve

and

writing - i didn't finish my first prompt 🙁 i have an incomplete last sentence. argh having to retake for this is gonna be lame. lmao "you got 40K?"*

* don't think I got quite that high or quite that low but it's funny to think about.
