I'm writing the MCAT in August; I still can't believe how fast time has gone since I was a freshman waiting for this time to come. Good luck to everyone! 😀

Why do they call taking an exam, writing one? I never got that. I mean, what do they call actually writing the exam? 😕

checking in... August MCATer here, I've been studying for a while though and I took it 2+ years ago, so I'll consider myself the vet on this thread 🙂

We need to get some official practice score threads, etc. going

Because, where are you taking it to? Aren't you writing up the answers, and in doing so, writing the exam?

Meh, it just depends on where you come from. I've grown up saying "taking," but I understand "writing."

I am takin the MCATs in august and was confused about takin it paper pencil or on the computer. Which one do you guys think is better? Thanks

I always use taking and asked about writing on here a while ago. It's a regional thing like Pop vs. Soda vs. Coke.

August MCAT's and boy do I look forward to them... lol
I'm a Kinesiology student on the Arts side of things... I'm taking the MCAT without having taken Orgo, Chem, and my only university exposure to physics being Newtonian and Torques.... So I've taken all of May to Teach them to myselves... My high school chem was very well taught and I've found it pretty breezy.... Orgo on the other hand... Nomenclature... easy just requires practice... Isomers take some getting used to... But I'm doing TPR and am hoping for a 30.... took 3R last night and got 8BS, 7PS, 9VR.... I've heard this exam isn't a good indicator but I figure with 13 chapters of orgo still to review and all of physics and bio I at least stand a shot of getting my 10's.
Best of luck to everyone, and I'm sure I'll be a frequent poster

Yeah, but that's the normal insanity of english. I don't take a pill anywhere either but it still makes sense. 😕

I dunno, writing the exam and writing the answers actually seem to be different things. I guess I'm just a soda girl. 😀

auguest mcatter here. It's going great so far. I'd reccommend making several half-ass failed attempts at preparation to anyone. It makes studying so much easier the final time!

any other michigan people out there?

how many hours are you putting in on average.
just curious

Well I sit next to my books about 15 hours a day. I actually study about 4-5 hours per day, including daydreams. Obviously I need to be punched in the face. :meanie:

i always thought it was a FOB (pls don't yell at me, I sometimes say open & close the lights 😳 ) thing...cool, must be like the Orgo/O-Chem/Organic variations. i wish i wrote the mcat though, i'd do so well 😉

gotta figure out how to study & deal w/ my family & some volunteering i'm sneaking in on my vacation.
will prob. buckle down & ditch SDN :scared: in July & do btwn 4-5hrs studying one day then 4-5hrs practice problems the next full lengths on saturdays & lay out on sundays

hey guys, which one do u think is better, CBT or paper and pencil. I need to register for the August MCAT, lemme know, thanks 🙂

i dont think i could handle CBT too well. the idea of staring at the computer for 5 hours... 😱

august mcatter here too! im kinda nervous though, ive heard that the april curve is much better than the august? has anyone heard the same? or am i just freakin out too much :scared: lol

Yeah I will be setting the curve in August  (kidding)
...So the countdown begins...

it's funny because indian people will say "give an exam" when the person (student) takes it. and the person who is giving the exam (the proctor) is the one who "takes the exam".
