Hi all,

I read on another thread that for AF HPSP, if an applicant has a 3.5 GPA or higher, and a 29 MCAT or higher, that person automatically receives the scholarship (assuming he/she passes physical exams, etc.) Does anyone know if this applies to Navy HPSP as well?

Thanks

If I remember reading it correctly, a person is eligible to be "Field Selected" or something like that if they have a 3.5 AND 27 MCAT (I don't remember specific section cut offs being mentioned). I gathered this meant you were conditionally offered the HPS awaiting 1) physical qualification and 2) acceptance to medical school. That said, I wasn't eligible for the "Field Select" thing for any service, but I gather A) if you're accepted allopathic already you'll probably get it anyway as the Navy has struggled to fill their HPSP quota in recent years (sometimes drastically) and B) if you're coming from a particularly reputable school or have particularly high MCAT's they'll give you the conditional acceptance anyway. The latter is my experience while the former appears to be a fact.
