Hi All. For the 15 slots in the activities section on the AMCAS, how many on average do applicants fill out? Is it the norm to have all 15 completely filled out? I am a little bit concerned right now as I only have 8 when I counted my experiences. They are 8 activities with substantial involvement, and I didn't want to spread thin my activities with fluff, i.e. Even though I have TA'ed two different courses in biology, I am thinking about grouping them into one activity.
Am I losing out with just 8? Thanks.

You are fine. 15 is the maximum and the adcoms can see through fluff. It's about quality not quantity.

I didn't use all 15 slots, surely admins can see through crap if one is just looking to fill up space (and be put off by it).

Put in all the quality ECs that you have, 8 sounds like plenty to me.

There is 15 slots available to catch the obsessive people who are trying to make their app pretty. Trap 'em. 😉

I used 10...and i did fine. Just don't put random crap down (only the meaningful stuff).

I am maxing out my 15, I also did a lot of grouping and I still have a few things I wish I had the space to put in. That was after removing the fluff, but then I'm a non-trad with a 10 page CV.

just a little fyi if you're applying 2011-2012 stop right now. the app you're filling out is for 2010-2011 and will be erased on May 4, when the one for this upcoming year comes out.

just tryin to save you some time.

Sigh, the AMCAS app was so much easier to fill out compared to the Canadian (Ontario) apps. 15 for AMCAS...48 for Ontario >_<
