First of all, I'm not a guy.

Secondly, I believe a physician should leave controversial opinions to him/herself. What if you had a patient who would truly benefit from having an abortion? Would you advise against it because of what you deem right and wrong?

I just thought his signature is inappropriate and offensive to those people who do perfrom abortions. Sorry it's under the wrong thread lady.

Tex, thanks for being much more eloquent than I wanted to be. That line was bothering me too, Meg. Just bc someone has a particular opinion on a controversial subject doesn't mean that they wouldn't uphold their duty as a physician in order to push their opinions down the patient's throat.

I actually think every medical school should be required to release what their average GPA/MCAT of accepted students is along with their graduates' average USMLE/COMLEX scores are.

If a program claims to do a good job training their student body, then what do they have to hide?

I won't state my stance on abortion either way, but panda's opinion on the matter has absolutely nothing to do with his skills or passion as a physician. There is nothing wrong with being opinionated about a certain subject, especially one that is heated, and related to one's field. This is like saying that a lawyer who is anti capital punishment is ignorant, or an unqualified lawyer because of their stance on the issue ... it's just not true.
