So I applied to AZCOM and was complete on 10/2. I just received an email for an interview invite but the email says it is to the dental school. I clearly did not apply to dental school and I am concerned that they made a mistake. Also, my log in for the interview scheduler won't work. Did this happen to anyone else? Any input?? Thanks!

btw, my check for the azcom supplemental hasnt been cashed yet. so does this mean they havent even looked at my 2ndary???to those who have heard back, was ur check cashed b4 or after your invite/hold/rejection/etc??thanks. im getting really impatient with all the schools!

I got the email about 10 days after I sent it in. Enter www.midwestern.edu/scheduling

They cashed the check 3 days after invite for me.

Any suggestions on where to stay near campus and cheap. ALso, it seems as though campus is on the very edge of town and glendale. Is there cab service there? Does anyone know the cost to cab it from school to the airport? THanks!

I was just wondering if those of you with interviews to AZCOM wouldn't mind posting your stats. It's my first choice so really hoping for an interview. Here are my stats:

1st MCAT- 22R
2nd MCAT- 23S
Science GPA-3.4
Non-Science GPA-3.7
Cumulative GPA-3.55

I'd really appreciate the feedback! Thanks so much!

I stayed at the Country Inn and Suites that was on their list, it wasn't the cheapest I don't think but the hotel seemed really new (read: clean and nice). They also had a free shuttle service to and from the school which was only about 5-10 minutes away. You can take the supershuttle from the airport to the hotel for $24 flat rate. You might have to wait for them to mess around picking up other people, but its better than paying out the *** for a cab ride.

GPA: 3.36 overall
MCAT: 32R

Had my interview a couple of weeks ago and waiting to hear is killing me! Maybe I'll call today...

I just received notice of an interview yesterday, here are my stats:

MCAT: 26P
Science GPA: 3.114
Non-Science: 3.369
Cum GPA: 3.202
 
On that note, it has been 24 hours since I received the email about interviewing and I still can't login to the interview scheduler. It says "invalid login"

Did this happen to anyone else?
 
I was just accepted to AZCOM and I am so excited!!! I loved this place. The interview was great, the vibe from the students was great! I'm putting my deposit down and cancelling all but just a few of my other interviews. Anyone else planning on going there?
 
I cancelled a few interviews, but I'm still going to hold out and see what else comes my way. I too loved AZCOM and was totally enamored by it. 😀 Feel's great!

I read on SDN that several other people called for their results so I called them yesterday.
 
I am waiting to register for an interview they said it should be up in an hour. I also have an interview at NV I was hoping they would be at around the same time to save plane fare. Anyone else interviewing at both schools? What do you think?
 
I just scheduled for 10-23 anyone know which hotel/motel is the closest with shuttle service to school,
 
Congrats to all those accepted and good luck to those waiting to hear! AZCOM was my first choice! I grew up about 5 minutes from campus, so if anyone considering AZCOM has questions about life in glendale, just let me know. It is a really great place to live!
 
pretty sure i just got rejected. my mom says i recieved a letter from azcom,glendale. since they give email notice for interviews, the fact that i got a letter, im assuming its a rejection. plus, ive been trying to log into the scheduling site with my last name and ssn and aacomas id. both didnt work, so there goes another rejection!.ahhhhh

hang in there... everyone gets rejections. if it didn't work out for this school, do your best to stay patient for the next ones. have a little faith!

thanks. got rejected yesterday from dmu also.so im on an all time low rite now.lol. all i have left is nycom and ccom...i still have to submit secondaries that ive been holding onto from unecom,touro-mi, kcom and soma. just waiting for my next paycheck b4 i could submit em though. broke+no interviews=loser(me)...

easy now... i've been (shoot, i'm sure we all have been) in the same situation. in fact, a lot of my secondaries where essentially completed and waiting to be sent off/submitted but i couldn't do so because i was waiting to get paid. it's a big commitment, but you're not done yet... finish those secondaries, put your best face forward, and move on.

i'm only saying that because i've been stuck in a rut so many times this past year and the only thing that kept me positive was having the confidence in myself to know that this is what i wanted and i was going to do all that i had to do to get it. just keep working through the rough patches and you'll be rewarded!

thanks. ill keep a smile on my face and hope for the best. at least ill be going back to school next year for sure, if not med school then an smp. i guess its still early in the game. still 2 more to hear back from and 4 more to turn in!maybe 5 if i turn in pcom's. im having trouble fulfilling thier lor reqs.

I had an interview at AZCOM on September 21 and I thought it went very well. But I still have not received any news yet. I remember them saying that they will make a decision within 2 weeks of the interview. I was wondering if anyone else is waiting for their answer? Also, do you think I should call the school or just wait a couple more days?

This is probably going to get moved to the AZCOM discussion thread, but here goes.

I also interviewed on 9/21 - so I suppose we probably chatted at some point in the day. I called (because other SDNers gave me the heads up) yesterday and the results from our day are in.
 
HANG IN THERE UC, Me and you are in the same boat. I just received my first rejection from MSUCOM yesterday. I was so depressed and felt betrayed as I was told by the ASSOCIATE DEAN that I will surely get in. But I have moved on. REMEMBER all you need is ONE ACCEPTANCE, JUST ONE. I wasn't planning on sending in NSU, Unecom, and Vcom secondary but now I think I will. I am also going to add more schools to AACOMAS, you should also (especially the newer ones). I know its expensive I am in major debt also, but my brother said he will loan me the money so I will work it off and pay him back.

BTW your avatar is hilarious I love that cow :laugh:

haha. thanks. its a cow with mad cow disease. lol.davis is also known as cow town because of the cows on campus.ouch with the msucom. id hate for that to happen to me, must have been a real surprise and downer. i was thinking about adding the newer schools, but im going to hold off until december or so, or at least until i get rejected from most of the schools without an interview. haha. well, im off to the gym, gonna work off some of this built up agression.
 
hope you guys all the best those who are waiting for replys from the interviews. I recently scheduled an interview at AZCOM for the 23rd this month. anyone have any thoughts on what type of questions they ask and some good hotels around the area?

OK, let me clarify something. So say you interview on Nov 1st (hypothetically). The decision is made by say Nov 15th. Now, do you have 2 wks (Nov 30th) to pay your $1000 deposit? Can someone tell me?

Congrats on those of you accepted to AZCOM.

I have a concern about AZCOM and wanted to see if this concern is valid.
1) 3rd and 4th yr clinicals are subpar from what I hear and even at 170 (?) students currently, AZCOM is having a hard time finding good rotations. Now that the class will be like 250, are you concerned about this?

2) Significant tuition increases every year (more so than others). I guess they need to pay for new schools (dental?) they are opening.

3) Very high yearly budget - $62K -- $65K/yr depending on on or off campus housing you choose. Compare it to DMU's $52K/yr.

What are your thoughts?
My main concern is #1..then #3.
 
62-65 is still cheap compared to the 68K at CCOM! I did get that vibe about years 3 and 4 though.
 
I haven't gotten a packet yet since I called them!
 
If you are accepted before November 15th you are supposed to have until Dec. 15 to submit a doposit. That is supposed to be the rule for all schools, however some go against it and say you have to put one in within two weeks. AZCOM told me at the interview that they give you until December though, they were kind of making fun of schools that gave you a two week deadline, saying they don't think that people would want to come unless they apply pressure.

I dont have the official packet either- but that was what they told me.

Yeah, this happened to me, too. Sending me an invite for their dental school was just a mistake, as I immediately received a corrected E-mail w/ a login for their DO school. It's funny that this happened to more than one person...a little quality control issues down there in Glendale??? :laugh:
 
The rotations during 3rd year are average at best, from the discussions I've had with current and past students. That said, any rotation will be largely what you make of it. For fourth year rotations, you can set up all the away rotations you'd like.

I'm leaning toward AZCOM as a first choice, but I still have some osteo and allo schools alike I'm waiting to hear from. I'll probably see you all in AZ next year!
 
The admissions committee met on Wednesday. Just how quickly do you all think the "official packet" can be assembled and sent off? Give it a little time, folks. The pressure's off! 😀
