They REALLY muddled the financial aid for my military friends. STRONGLY suggest you research this issue before coming to AZCOM if you are military.

I'm a MSII at AZCOM. I tried to warn prospective HPSP students as well. You just won't receive adequate financial aid if you are married or have a family.

isn't the kisser that azcom was audited and is now compliant with fa rules...while other schools that havn't been audited are still shelling out $$? that's the rumor i heard...

well once again i seem 2 be behind on news....what happened???

Yes, at AZCOM we're compliant because we were audited just like everyone else will be eventually, that means that military kids get their stipend counted as financial aid along with their military-paid tuition, which boils down to about 50 grand total, so we can only borrow about 5 grand from the government this year, was only 3 grand last year because we can't pass our calculated total cost of attending school legally. This sucks especially if you have a family because you hav eto get private loans to really get the money you need. And we get our stipend wages taxed as work wages, not financial aid which it is counted against us as well!

DOc, how did you manage to get private loans too? When I talked to my financial aid offiice, they said I wouldn't get private loans because they had to run it through the aid office before dispersement. Is there a way around that? Please tell me if there is, I am in your possition (family, need money + HPSP).

I just managed to get the Academic Edge loan through Chela Financial. They will not need AZCOM FAO certification... just proof that you are enrolled. You will be eligible for up to $20K per year. The interest rate is a little higher than other student loans, but dire circumstances call for more drastic measures. You may be able to qualify on your own using the HPSP stipend as monthly income as long as your debt to income ratio is low... otherwise, you will need a cosigner.

When do you start repayment on this loan (not during school right)? Do you have a website for them? Thanks so much, this helps a lot!

The website follows:

You can choose repayment during school for a lower interest rate or defer until you graduate. There is a quarterly fee of $20 if you choose to wait until you graduate to repay.

yea i wanted that loan but the % was like 9.8% interest. i htink that the stupid woman who was imputing my stuff did something wrong because they said that i don't qualify wiht my paernts as cosigners and we all have very good credit. i need cosigner cause i have not worked for past 2 years. anyways first that woman said we dont even qualify because she did something wrong. anyways...anyone able to get a lower interest rate??? cause i think she royally messed up
