AZPOD c/o 2012

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats!! AZPOD is a great and challenging school but it'll be worth it in the end. 👍

Congratulations on getting accepted at AZPOD. That is the only school I have applied to and I got the interview email today. I was just wondering if you could tell me what the interview was like. Any advice that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Interview was pretty laid back, Interviewed with Dr. Page who is the dean and two other podiatrists that help out with the school. They just wanted to get to know you and see what you were all about. Just be yourself and you will be fine.😀

I just got an email with the greatest news, I have been accepted to AZPOD! Considering that its the only school I applied to, I am definitely going there. Saw Yurgie's post a while ago, and wanted to add to it. Are there any other AZPOD c/o 2012 people out there?

Congratulations everyone on their acceptances to Azpod, I hope I can join you all soon. I will be interviewing in March and I'm curious to know how long it took post-interview for them to notify you of your acceptance. I know some schools are very quick on the admissions decisions and I'm curious to see if Azpod is as well. Thanks

I interviewed on Mon Feb 18 and got an email about my acceptance on Wed Feb 27. During the interview I was told the admissions commitee meets on Fridays, so you should find out early the next week (like I did). Good luck with your interview!

Thanks for the info biomechanics, I hope I can join you and yurgie there in the fall

I just called today and was told I got in! I can't wait to start in the fall, anyone know when classes start?

I was so tempted to call today, but I controlled myself. Now I have to wait till the weekend is over 👎

Orientation starts on Wednesday August 27th, and classes start the next monday. Congrats!

I'm from florida and need to find a place to live. Any suggestions on studio apartments around the area?

I found a lot of places when I was apt. searching. PM me and I can send you some info.

I actually already live in Phoenix. There are about three different "luxury" apartment complexes across the street from the school. From what I know, a lot of students live in these. However there are a ton of apartments within ten to fifteen minutes of the school. I currently live about 15 minutes away, in a very nice, but reasonable complex and intend to stay there once when school starts in the fall. Check apartmentguide.com or PM me if you have any questions.

So I had my interview March 26th and I was accepted two weeks ago and just decided to pay my deposit.. soo Im all excited except for the fact I have to move back home to Glendale and probably move in with my parents.. other than that who else can I expect to see in AZPOD's class of 2012?

ASH

Is there a facebook group for AZPOD 2012 yet?

This facebook group thing is gonna be pretty awesome

Be careful. A lot of students do live in the luxury apartments (san lagos and san prado) but some have also had their vehicles stolen from there :scared:
Most people in my class live within 10 miles. The best advice is where NOT to live. PM me if you want some. (advice that is)

If you can afford to do it, it's a great time to buy a house in Phoenix. I'm moving to Chicago to attend Scholl in the fall, and am having a really hard time selling my house in Phoenix. As a result, we're listing it for $50k under its appraised value. My house is too far from Azpod to be of any interest to you guys (40 miles!), but if you have a few thousand for a down payment, buying a home now would be a great investment.

Another great option is to look into renting a house. Again, because so many people are unable to sell right now, many are trying to find renters.

I've lived in the greater Phoenix area (Scottsdale, Mesa, Tempe) for the past 14 years, so you can PM me as well if you need any ideas/advice on where to live.

One thing to note is that Phoenix has really bad traffic in the mornings and evenings, but it can be better depending on which direction you're heading. For the most part, the worst traffic is heading towards the downtown area in the morning and away from it in the afternoons. Azpod is located in Glendale, pretty far away from downtown, so it shouldn't be a problem to find housing where you're driving against the really bad backups.

Exactly. I come in from the west on the 101 in the morning. I have a classmate coming in from Scottsdale from the east on 101. We are going against traffic (not into town) so it is all good.

CAUTION, I don't know if you want to tell Dr. Gangrene where you want to or are going live since I think it is he who has stolen all the cars to pay for school.

I told you, I would give you 0.1% of what I made not to reveal my secret!!!

How is the weather in Philly? It was good to see you in D.C. Just 2 months, and we'll do it again.

The weather is decent in the 60s and low 70s. Not like that AZ or CA weather. I'm still waiting to throw my shorts on. DC was fun! Hey, if you want the pics, send me an email.

It is a good school. I transferred from another school back East and the education level is far superior. Good luck and keep on Dr. P and Dr. J's good side. Oh, not to mention the staff at the Pod Dept. They are really nice people. Cheers.

I've been following this thread but just registered as a user. I got accepted into the AZPOD c/o 2012. I also currently live in the Phoenix area and can give some info on housing if anyone needs it.
Looking forward to starting in August.

welcome osborne~

Has anyone received an award letter for financial aid yet? I called the school in March and they told me they would be going out in early April, but I haven't seen anything. Just curious if I am the only one out there.

I have not seen an award letter yet either, but I'm a little behind on the financial aid stuff

Nope, I haven't heard anything about financial aid yet. Does anyone know when the new gym will be completed? It didn't look to far along when I interviewed but its hard to tell how long it will take. I hope it is finished sometime soon.

still waiting on my award letter as well, i have a friend who will be going to the dental school in the fall and he hasn't received anything as well

Thanks for the answers. I know a 2nd year AZCOM student and he already got his, which is why I was wondering. It is probably just because their financial aid gets disbursed in summer not fall. I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in this. I'll give it a while longer before I bug financial aid.

Be patient. We (the soon to be second years) just got ours. There is a heirarchy to receiving your aid, just like everything else. The higher up you get in class year, the sooner you get your letter.

I am in the class of 2012.. Does anyone know where we can get these physicals done as well as the immunizations? Especially if we don't have health insurance?

Hey, I just got my MCAT scores back (27Q). I got accepted based on my GRE scores, but thought it would be best to take the MCAT anyways. I am pretty satisfied with the results. Now I just have to pass O-Chem II this summer!:scared:

Congratulations on the MCAT scores! You beat me by one point. I also got in on my GRE scores but did not know it by the time of my MCAT test date. And I have to pass physics this summer.

Sounds like we're two peas in a pod!! I can't wait to get down to AZ. It is cold (40 F) here today, and rainy.

I'm trying to figure out the financial aid stuff on the online.midwestern.edu website and I was wondering if you guys can help. I completed all steps 1 - 4, but did not do the Grad PLUS loans because I will not be needing funding from that. Do I have to fill it out anyways or is this okay? I'd call the school, but we have a long weekend so i thought I'd check here.

You only have to do that if you need it. I applied for it, but only did so after I received my award letter (two months after I started the financial aid process). My award letter was updated with the new info. Good luck!

I will be joining all of you this fall. How many of you guys are married vs. single? (My wife wants to know so she can gab with the wives)

Just got engaged this summer, so not married yet, but soon. My wife-to-be will also be starting in the PsyD. program at Midwestern this fall.
