Hey. I know that many Pharmacy Schools will accept students when they finished all the courses and earn credits for pre-pharmacy. I was wondering that is a bachelor really needed when applying? Does it give you a higher chance of getting accepted or what? Plus, it will take longer for your journey to your career? Thanks.

No BS is not required for most schools. Does one make you more competitive? Maybe. If take your chances on applying with just AA and all pre Reqs done. Good luck.

Many schools state that a large majority of their students will have acquired their BS degree before matriculation into Pharm Schools. There is no harm in applying once you have completed the pre-reqs, but a BS will increase your chances. Mostly due to the point that it allows for more time to get experience in the field and allows the school to see a greater trend in GPA as course work increases in difficulty.

Finish up the prerequisites first, apply, and if you get in to school awesome if you don't then finish bachelors. I got in to a good school with just prerequisites from community college, so it is possible.

KasHfg, that's what I am planning on doing. I'm getting my AAS as a PharmTech in a couple months and then I have the whole list of necessary pre-reqs through my local Community College. The facility I'm doing an internship at right now, the majority of their Pharmacists all graduated together from UIC and will occassionally give me hints and suggestions. They've been really nice and helpful. I'm looking at UI also, but looking at the Rockford Campus, since I want to go more into Cancer Treatment and Research, and I know they do some there.

Depends on what you consider "required." My school doesn't "require" it, yet 90%+ of the people they accepted had degrees. Many schools are similar.

I wouldn't say that you are guaranteed to get in if you have a BS but it definitely does help. My advisor told me that about 5% get in with just pre-reqs and over 80% get in that have BS.
