I was wondering how much of an advantage someone will have if they had a B.S. in Chemistry by the time they apply for Pharmacy School. Is it a big advantage, moderate, or is it not that important? Are schools more likely to accept some one with a B.S. with weak stats or an undergrad with strong stats.

Thanks.

Having a bachelor's degree can be an advantage at certain schools; however, some schools require all applicants to have a bachelor's degree, Ohio state is one school that comes to mind. That being said, whether or not having a chemistry degree would be an advantage it is hard to say. Honestly, as long as you meet the schools requirements and you are competitive with other candidates you should be fine. In the long run it will be an advantage to you-much of what you will learn in pharmacy school is based on chemistry so just having that background will be useful. But it's hard to say, there are a lot of different aspects admission committees look at before offering students admittance.
