Ok here is my story. I screwed up college my first time around and failed out. I was young immature and just wasn't ready for college. I just went back this past spring semester and did well. My school would only let me go part time my first semester to prove myself to them. I got a A and an A-, i just finished up my first semester of foreign language over the summer and got an A. I am starting foreign language 2 in a few days and plan on getting another A.
Right now my GPA is sitting around 2 and at the end of the summer I will have 43 credits. I will graduate with my associates (spring '12) and plan to have bio 1&2 done by then. I know it will be an uphill battle to get my GPA up high enough to gain admission to a DO program but I am determined to do it.
I am unsure what to major in after i get my associates, I was thinking possibly Healthcare Admin but I'm not sure. My question is if I major in a nonscience will I be able to finish my prereq's (and degree) within two years of transferring? I feel like I am very far behind and want to finish my undergrad and prereqs ASAP. Would I have to major in a science to achieve this goal?

So at the end of spring '12 you'll have 2 years left and both Bio I and II done? I suppose it depends on what major you pursue but I think you'll have time to do both your prereqs and a nonscience major. Plan it out! Talk to an advisor or at least pick a major and map out the required classes- shouldn't be too difficult.

Don't forget schools will usually let you overload a semester or two, then there's summer and winter sessions if things are really tight. I'm sure you could do it in 2 years if time was really that important. Don't forget about scheduling in some MCAT prep time!

Taking 4.5 years might be easier and give you breathing room and time for extracurriculars, but it's possible with the schedule you're trying. Just make sure you can do well and be involved while you're taking those courses. Good luck 🙂
