What are your thoughts on back to back science classes?

I have the option of starting at 10 am with Organic Chemistry OR at 11 am. Then I'd have Cell function at 12 pm. All classes MWF and 50 minutes long.

Should I get the extra hour of sleep, start at 11, and have back to back lectures? Upside is the extra hour of sleep, supposedly this professor is amazing, and I'm also a huge fan of catching maximum Z's.

Or should start at 10? Upside: Get that extra time to cram for cell function or get a bite to eat before my next class. What would you do?

My main concern is when it comes to exam time. I'm a crammer - I'm trying to change my ways. Usually if I have an exam I don't go to any of my classes for that day and just focus on that subject, the technique has been working well for bio and chem but I'm thinking that skipping ochem might not be a good technique/idea... Anyways any comments or thoughts are much appreciated!

So any comments or thoughts are much appreciated!

Who doesn't have (or had) a back-to-back lecture? Do what you'd like the most. Would you waste that hour between the two classes? Or would you be productive?

you should come to a conclusion on your own. i dont understand how asking complete strangers will help you at all

haha, your thinking way too much into it. just pick one and go with it, when you get to dental school you will have classes straight from 8-5 with a 1 hour break somewhere in there for lunch.

It looks like you'd be skipping Ochem on a Cell Function test day either way since Ochem comes before Cell Func either way...

For the record, in dental school you're going to have days where you go 5 hours back to back, get an hour for lunch, and then go another 3 hours back to back... 2 hours back to back might not hurt as a warm up...

It's just lectures and it's not a guarantee that you will have back-to-back tests or even finals. Just get done faster in school and go home.

I agree! Just look at it as a practice for dental school. This semester we have Physical Examination, Neurology, Physiology, Oral Histology, Embryology, and Genetics back to back to back.....

And how do you enjoy that 😀?

Good Luck lol

I say go with the 10 am to prevent yourself from sleeping more. Why would you wanna sleep until 9, 10, or 11 am? Once you get in dental school, you will have to get up before 8 am most of the time, so why not try getting used to it?
Also, try getting yourself used to not skipping other lectures for the sake of a test in another subject. If you plan on doing this in dental school, you will miss almost half of the lectures of each course, and you definitely don't want that to happen. So why not get used to it while you are in undergrad?
Good luck.

I can't make your decision for you but If I were in your situation I'd weigh my options. I'd get to know everything about the professors teaching the classes as I feel that is more important than what the schedule is like (Do I want a bs prof but a nice relaxation period or do I want a prof I know I will love but a back to back class?)
Only you know what will work for you.

def get the sleep. go at 11. why make yourself get up early if you dont have to?
