Before this semester, I had a 3.76 GPA. I passed Chem Lab with an A++ but somehow managed to get a B in the lecture, although I scored above 88% on each test. My GPA has now dropped to a 3.70 and I'm devastated.
His chem course hasn't prepared me for Gen. Chem 2, and now my science GPA is going to take a hit. Anyone have a similar situation happen to them? 🙁

Just a word of warning, you are not going to get sympathy here for getting a B in a class. Going from a 3.76 to a 3.70 is also not "devastating" to your potential for a successful application. Get tutoring for gen chem II and learn from your mistakes this semester.

It's a big drop when each 'A' (depending on credits) gets you about .02 of an increase.
I'm not looking for sympathy, I just wanna know if anyone else has gotten a 'B' or lower in a basic science course :/

You only got a b. You should be ashamed of yourself. How are you going to pass harder classes with poor grades in the basics? Man I almost feel sorry for you but the only way for people to win is for others to lose.

Sorry to break it to you, but no one has ever gotten a B in a basic science course.

I'm not entirely sure about this and I hope I don't get flames for this but I'm gonna go ahead and say "yes". 😳

Got a B- in organic chemistry I and a B in organic chemistry II.

I did not like those classes.

Chillax yo. It's a B. Chemistry 2 was much more difficult for me than Chemistry 1 was. There's just a lot of math involved so it just got old after awhile. Make sure to do a crap-ton of problems next semester if you want to get an A. And your GPA is fine. Have a smoke and mellow out. 😀

Look, anything above a 3.6 is a strong GPA. Keep calm and carry on.

Yes I got a B-, my only B- in Gen Chem I. After a few A's in Ochem and major classes later, I finished 3.75. As varsityblue says, 3.6+ is strong. You will like Ochem much better than Gen Chem.

Keep your head up man, that's not bad! One B, or even a few B's won't hurt you in the grand scheme of things. I'm assuming you're still a freshman or sophmore, so you still have a couple of years of sciences left to take. Take a look at the average GPAs of accepted/matriculated students, a GPA of 3.7 falls in nicely with even some of the "top" schools.

You must not have faced many hardships in your life.
3.7 is nice. Very nice.

I have had a "bad" course in which I didn't do so well. But you have to ask yourself what can you do NOW. It doesn't matter what happened as you can only change the future.

Learn what you can from your failure, do you won't have to be "devastated" ever again.

yeah bro i got a C+ in gen chem 1 and a B- in gen chem 2 and I got in with a 3.67. they were both honors courses, but bad grades none the less.
