I wasn't sure where to post this but hopefully I can get some advice on here:
I'm currently in my second year of university and so far I have a few bad grades. Freshman year was a rough start cuz of some bad health and I managed to pull out a C+ and C- in a couple pre-calc classes. I'm studying abroad this year in England and even though I probably shouldn't have, I signed up for a Biology and Physics course, although I have a very weak background in both of them and the courses there are more of a "refresh" of what the students should have learned in college (college and uni are two different things here). Just found out that I failed the Biology course and may scrape a C for the Physics (the physics one was divided into two parts, I got a B in the first part but a C for the second, so each grade will be seen individually, although I say I got a C, I'm basically just using the lower grade). My question: chances of getting into med school? On my transcript I'll have a C+, C-, C and F. I'll be retaking the Bio course (obvs) and hopefully will pull out an A but I'm counting on the next couple years being pretty rough as things have taken a turn for the worse financially and I'll have to work a lot which might affect school, and knowing that my health can screw me over at any point, but I'm planning to work my ass off cuz I know I'll have to.
Anyone else been in a similar situation and recently gotten into med school or know someone who has? Haven't taken the MCAT yet, but better believe I'll be studying all summer once I get back to the States for it. Over here I've done research assistance with the psychology department (psychology's my original major), being handed over control of one study and assisting with menial tasks on another; i work as a preschool teacher and have been involved in a number of clubs. If I were granted an interview I'm sure I could do well, but my grades at the moment might prove to be an issue....advice?
Thanks!
