for those who have been accepted to a very selective school,
i'm interested in learning if any of you had mediocre or even disappointing interviews at top schools and still got in. i know you are out there. i like hearing personal stories like this.

There are two threads already on this. Do a search. Plenty of people had this kind of experience.

I actually had a terrible interview at NYU. The interviewer was antagonistic, contradicting everything I said, and just asking very strange questions. He didnt seem to care about anything that I had done. So it just gave me a very negative impression of the school, but then 10 days later I got accepted......so now i might give the school another chance

I had a very tough interview at Hopkins. All about health policy, research, ethics etc. I thought i did ok. But when the time came for the personal stuff i completely f*cked up big time. I walked out of there thinking "wtf you said those things you stupid idiot". I was angry with myself for a couple of days and accepted the fact that i will never be admitted. Admissions is weird though and they accepted me . 🙄

I know I've posted this before...but whatever. I had a horrible interview at Hopkins last year when I applied. I was asked a lot of stuff about ethics and didn't do so well. The dude acted like I was some kind of ****** too. I got in. Kinda crazy. But thank god I went here cause we have a SNOW DAY TODAY!!!! :horns:

has it occurred to anyone that interviews, ECs, really don't matter relative to grades and MCAT scores?

except that they do matter........
my experience was a bad interview(er) which equaled no acceptance....it's hard to have a great interview when you can't even understand what your interviewer is saying....

right. i totally wouldve gotten in with my sub 3.0 gpa without ECs and interviews 🙄 do you even know what youre talking about?

Also, it's hard to interview well when the interviewer is asleep. Haha. Worst interview ever~ 😳

I had a bad interview day at MCW. I showed up to the admissions office late, and I told them I had to leave very early in the afternoon, they expected you to stay until 5:00. The secretary looked irked at having to reschedule my interview time. It also meant I had to skip some of the interview day activities.

During the interview lunch, I also made a few SDN-related references which did not go over at all...no one in my group even knew what SDN was. o.0

Then, at the end, I had to have the admission office call my cab for me (no cell phone) and I got up and left during the director's seminar..but I left my admissions packet on my chair, so I had to return 10 minutes later to retrieve it (all this while the admissions staff is sitting in the back row watching). Acceptance letter mailed a week later...I will say though, the interview itself went very well.
