Bad sign if prof doesn't want to meet with you for LOR?

So I asked a professor for a LOR and he was more than happy to write one for me. That was a couple months ago and we have been coresponding with one another via email about once a month. I offered to drop by to give him my things e.g. transcripts, CV, DAT scores (not sure if I should, but please chime in on your thoughts), etc.

However he simply told me to mail him everything when I offered to drop by to hand deliver them. Is that a bad sign? If I wanted to visit him so that I could hand deliver him the documets, and to thank him as a courtesy, would that be inappropriate since he told me to mail him the documents? I haven't seen him in about 3 months and so i thought it'd be good if I'd personally deliver the materials and speak with him.....idk if you guys have feedback I'd really appreciate it, thanks!

It would ring bells for me, because if he doesn't have time to meet with you for 10 minutes, then how will he have time to write you a decent LOR?

To your second question about personally delivering them anyways: I think it depends on exactly how he phrased his e-mail....

wtf are you talking about?

Don't look into it like that OP, just go right to his door, drop off the things and do your thing. What's he going to say? GET OUT! Gimme a break. My adviser told me to mail everything to them and I absolutely did not, I went right to them and had a chat. All of them were VERY pleased to see me and we had a long chat about a whole bunch of things. I told them some pointers about my plan and about research that they might be able to contribute. Do yourself the favor and go see them already.

sounds like he just trying to make things easier on you by having you mail it, I would look into it further. Def stop by if you want

Would it be inappropriate to include photos of past humanitarian missions? I'm thinking about adding 1 or 2 along with the resume, my transcripts, and a copy of my DAT scores. What do you guys think?

anything extra that would make you stand out from the hundreds of other students could not possibly hurt you.

in the packets that i made to each of my letter writers, i included everything you mentioned, plus a 2 page personal letter that thanked the professor for the recommendation, told what i took away from the course, and explained why i wanted to pursue dentistry. extra stuff like this can never hurt...right?

besides, who doesn't love photography?

Why not do as he asks? He might be more comfortable meeting with you after he reviews all the documentation.

nice screename, marshawn lynch a CAL product!!!

op, i would go to his office

Nothing like going against the directions given. Of course, pushing your own course could make the prof show you to the door.
