Hey guys. I'm looking for some suggestions for a bag.
I want to buy a messenger bag that is big, will hold a upto two or three text books and a few binders, as well as my 12" laptop when I occasionally bring it to school.
Would appreciate some suggestions.
thanks!

while not a "messenger bag" per say, i highly recommend the longchamp "le pliage large" tote bag.....it fits a ton (i typically carried 2 large science textbooks and 1-2 binders at all times) and it holds up really well (i have put mine through 2yrs of abuse and its still going strong)

a little pricey at $145 but in my opinion is very worth it....here is a link if you are unfamiliar with it:

i have it in red 😉

i just realized you might be a boy, and in that case i apologize for my girly suggestion haha

lol, yes I'm a guy.
But thanks for your suggestion!

IME that amount of stuff gets really heavy in a shoulder bag. I have a messenger bag I use for days I'm carrying less, and a sturdy backpack for when I'm lugging around textbooks and my computer.

Manhattan portage, brooklyn industries, lowepro and patagonia all make simple sturdy messenger bags that you can sometimes find deals on (get last year's colors cheap, etc). Timbuk2 is popular and they come in many colors but some of their bags are REALLY heavy - I would only buy one in the store from them, not online, and don't buy their laptop sleeve - use your own sleeve in a lighter bag.

But really, if you're carrying that much save your shoulder/neck and get a backpack instead or also. If you are totally set on using a messenger bag, the Chrome bag is what a lot of the real bicycle messengers carry (it the one with the seatbelt buckle on the strap).

I just bought the Timbuk2 Commute, so I'll write some reviews on my impression of it after my MCAT date. seems like a pretty nice bag.
