Hey Guys!

Have any of you taken the two model exams in the Barron's book? If so, are the answers to the exams accurate? Some of the answers don't seem to be right == but then again I can be wrong.

its pretty well known that the barrons book contains a lot of errors. I wouldn't really trust anything in there except for the pat section, but thats just my opinion

I used the Barron's book as a supplement to the DAT book. There are a ton of errors all throughout the book. It can really throw you off. However, I did like the tips for the PAT section, and there was some good stuff in the Math section that wasn't in the Kaplan book. However, both the Kaplan and Barron's book are lacking in the Math area I think. For example I got a question on the DAT requiring a conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius which isn't listed in either book. However, I only studied from those two books and managed a 25 on the QR section.

Yup, I took them both. And let me warn you--there are questions in the Barron's book and the Kaplan book that are way harder than anything you will see on the real DAT. Specifically some of those probability questions.

barrons has some mistakes..... not really a good source but it can be helpful

yeah... i've taken the tests in the kaplan and barrons books/cd's. and, there's stuff i didn't agree with, too.

so, keep an eye out for that sorta thing... it's still a good tool to have overall, though.

here's the thing: if you take the tests, you have to anticipate (or at least be prepared for the possibiltiy that) the actual DAT score will be lower.

if you notice the mistake AFTER you've reveiwed and are just checking solutions, then no harm done. HOWEVER, if you're actually LEARNING material off those solutions, ok... then you're screwed.

Hey guys,

If you search the threads for Barrons, you'll see a bunch of info on what you are asking. Many mistakes in Barrons..only use it for PAT. It's your best comparison to angle ranking to DAT's (a lot of opinions of people on this site who already took DAT).
