I called. The lady told me that they won't start taking people off until late May/early June. We need to wait "for a couple of weeks". 🙁

Us TX residents that have already been accepted elsewhere only have until June 15th to hear. Jeez, throw me a freakin' bone here...

BaylorGuy said:I believe there were some people that were rejected...however, i could just be trying to make myself feel better. Honestly though, beats me
ClearDay said:At least everyone that I've talked to are waitlisted. Though I don't even know if I should care any more. I'm trying to buy a place in Dallas, but didn't want to make an offer in case I get into Baylor. If I wait any longer I'm pretty sure someone else is gonna take my dream condo away from me. I hate waiting!!!!
BaylorGuy said:This is the problem i'm having as well. Whats worse is that i'm leaving the country at the beginning of next week for a couple of weeks. I hoping it may bite me in the butt, but i'm going ahead and signing up for my apartment in galveston. Its better than waiting until june 15 to try and find a place. If all else fails, i'll just break it and then find a new place in houston.
Oh well, just roll with the punches i guess.
ClearDay said:I'm thinking along the same line so I'm gonna make an offer for that condo. It would just hurt to have to waste 2 grand (Ernest money) should Baylor decide to accept me. Oh well, life's not perfect.
So you're doing that tour after all. I envy you! Are you going with friends or by yourself?
BaylorGuy said:Well, what you can think about doing with the condo, if possible is go ahead and sign the lease application but see if you start the actual lease later....like fill it out now, but don't start the least until...say aug. 1. That's what i'm doing (i also don't really have any choice because i'm also on a waitlist for an apartment opening up...which should hopefully happen soon after all the MSIV get the hell out). But we'll see
BaylorGuy said:Yeah, I'm leaving on monday...its just gonna be me and my madre...its crazy trying to finish up all these things, not including me still working (which in retrospect was a bad idea to keep working this late before my trip). But i'm just ready to get out of the country and spend some weeks in some R&R...perhaps the last one i'll get for a while. 👍 👍 👍

ThaJewelofPR said:This is so ridiculous...I can't beleive the ADCOM is waiting THIS LONG to accept waitlisted applicants...I know for sure that some people have rejected them...What is taking them so long?
UTSW waitlist movement started today. Since it seems to be "late May" now, here's to hoping movement starts soon at BCM...houstoncfh said:I haven't heard any movement on the UTSW front either, and I'd have to imagine there would at least be movement at one of the schools...

JabsterL said:hey, what do y'all think of my chances - i'm OOS, so not sure if that'll hurt or may actually help (cuz of the "no TX residents who are already in someplace accepted after june 15 rule")...when does orientation start, and when does baylor STOP turning to the WL for good (June, July, or August?)...do y'all think or know that people still get accepted off the WL in August? Does BCM reject people or does everyone go to the WL?
thanks!
Hassler said:Baylor school year starts in mid-July, so no, you won't get accepted in August.
I heard that TX residents make up like 80% of the entering class. It seems like they prefer accepting in-state people because most of the in-state people will not reject their offer.
No one has reported being rejected post-interview, so apparently most, if not all, people go to the WL 🙁
Good luck to all of us on the waitlist!
BaylorGuy said:so is it safe to assume that no one has heard anything about the waitlist???
Nothing over here
JabsterL said:yeah, really, wonder when they start?
u know, they really drag it out as much as possible because they don't start goin to the WL til june, lots of people wait and get in in July, and much, much more people just remain on the WL without ever being rejected...what a tease...
potato51 said:Wow, two weeks from the deadline and they still haven't notified waitlist folks? Not only that, but y'all will need financial aid info too, no? Good luck to you guys, this must suck.

baysouth said:I was told by an admissions office staffer that the waitlist will start moving by the end of this week or next week most likely. Just wanted to let you guys know.
Hassler said:HAHAHA. Good to know that it WILL move, although I feel pretty much hopeless and is trying hard not to think about waitlists. Thx for the useful info though.

To be accepted, or not to be accepted: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous waitlists
Or take LOIs against the AdComs of troubles
And by opposing end them? To matriculate; to wait,
No more......
To be accepted, perchance to dream, ay there's the rub
For in that fickle med school what dreams may come.
(I have waaaayy too much time on my hands at work this morning.)
wow Jewel, that's insane. Every year I always hear of someone I know getting off the waitlist. Maybe the new rankings plus tuition issues really persuaded people to stay at BCM. Or maybe BCM is enrolling more in-state students this year.ThaJewelofPR said:Okay guys, I just thought I should let everyone know...A few weeks ago my PI suggested that I write emails to the ADCOM and remind them about myself and my continued interest in Baylor. I did, and then forgot all about it. I just got an email yesterday (Friday) from a woman on the ADCOM. She told me that they already have a full roster and they barely had to use the waitlist this year. She said thank you and she hopes that I choose a great med school. I guess that means they are officially done...(unless they haven't finished calling some of you they might have decided to accept off the waitlist [obviously not me])...I guess the new ranking really affected how many people accepted/declined this year! Good luck to all!
Thanks for letting us know- although it sucks none of us SDN waitlisters got in, at least now we can move on and get excited about the schools we are accepted at. Best of luck to everybody!!!ThaJewelofPR said:Okay guys, I just thought I should let everyone know...A few weeks ago my PI suggested that I write emails to the ADCOM and remind them about myself and my continued interest in Baylor. ClearDay said:I'm so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful I got into UTSW and I'm excited about going there - I'd just rather stay in Houston. 🙁
That's it, I'm going out!
GoodEats said:I know there's several of you waiting, and I hope this hits one of you: I pulled out for WashU, so that's at least one spot that will open up! Good luck hitting the jackpot!

June 15th is the date that applicants can't hold more than one acceptance to Texas schools and in turn the institutions agree not to offer a spot to any student already holding a position at another in-state school.baysouth said:Any recent information causing this post?
Yep, you're still alive:Hassler said:What if I'm holding an acceptance at a school not in Texas? Am I still alive, even though the chances might be <0.01%?
