Us TX residents that have already been accepted elsewhere only have until June 15th to hear. Jeez, throw me a freakin' bone here...

Seriously, its worse when you are going out of the country and have to go ahead and plan to attend one med school while still possibly waiting until june 15 to hear.

Oh yeah, apparently i get back the day or two before Baylor starts...however, It wouldn't be that much of a problem to come back early. 😀 😀

I don't remember seeing anyone said that they were flat out rejected....

At least everyone that I've talked to are waitlisted. Though I don't even know if I should care any more. I'm trying to buy a place in Dallas, but didn't want to make an offer in case I get into Baylor. If I wait any longer I'm pretty sure someone else is gonna take my dream condo away from me. I hate waiting!!!!

Well, what you can think about doing with the condo, if possible is go ahead and sign the lease application but see if you start the actual lease later....like fill it out now, but don't start the least until...say aug. 1. That's what i'm doing (i also don't really have any choice because i'm also on a waitlist for an apartment opening up...which should hopefully happen soon after all the MSIV get the hell out). But we'll see

Yeah, I can do that, except I'm buying and not leasing. People are buying condos in Dallas like they're giving it out for free. I was actually gonna buy another condo. 3 days after it was on the market, it went under contract. That's some quick decision. This condo I'm looking to buy is really the best fit for me. So, I'm gonna go for it.

I'm starting to get a little edgy with this Baylor wait...I just want someone to get the call.

I look at these waitlist acceptance threads and see the big-name schools with movement. Surely, if the Yales of the world are having movement that BCM should also. Can a jump to #10 really make that big of a difference in the waitlist movement?

Maybe I am just oblivious to the truth.

This is so ridiculous...I can't beleive the ADCOM is waiting THIS LONG to accept waitlisted applicants...I know for sure that some people have rejected them...What is taking them so long?

All the people at baylor seem to say it'll take another week at least til they go to the WL...hope it's sooner, but not expecting anything til at least next week and into June...

UTSW waitlist movement started today. Since it seems to be "late May" now, here's to hoping movement starts soon at BCM...

hehe, trust me baylor's not one of the school's thats worried about their acceptees matriculating

the reason they offer 70% slot to instaters is cause of the deal they made with the state of texas where by accepting 70% instate they get $280mill. every other year

Well, what i think is bothering most of the people who are waiting to hear off of the waitlist is the little June 15 rule. You know, the one concerning those in Texas whereby you can either only hold 1 acceptance or 1 waitlist in the state of texas by that date.

I dont know...maybe i'm totally off, but i'm hoping that something happens before then. If not, then oh well...i'm happy with where i'm planning on going now. GL all

When I got my wait list letter, I knew other people who received letters that were rejection letters. I don't get the feeling that many people were rejected who interviewed, but a few did. Good luck!

What is the whole June 16th thing? I’m WL at BCM, but have an acceptance to another TX school. I’m going to be out of the country from June 7 - June 22 on holiday. Should I get accepted to BCM, do I need to do something with my other spot by June 16? (i.e. call/email/post the other school with an official decline word) I need to know how vigilant I should be about checking email and phone messages while gone and having someone check my postal mail…

I did, and then forgot all about it. I just got an email yesterday (Friday) from a woman on the ADCOM. She told me that they already have a full roster and they barely had to use the waitlist this year. She said thank you and she hopes that I choose a great med school. I guess that means they are officially done...(unless they haven't finished calling some of you they might have decided to accept off the waitlist [obviously not me])...I guess the new ranking really affected how many people accepted/declined this year! Good luck to all!

wow Jewel, that's insane. Every year I always hear of someone I know getting off the waitlist. Maybe the new rankings plus tuition issues really persuaded people to stay at BCM. Or maybe BCM is enrolling more in-state students this year.

I'm so disappointed. Don't get me wrong, I'm thankful I got into UTSW and I'm excited about going there - I'd just rather stay in Houston. 🙁

June 15th is the date that applicants can't hold more than one acceptance to Texas schools and in turn the institutions agree not to offer a spot to any student already holding a position at another in-state school.

(I think I got that right, but if it needs some correction feel free to jump in.)

After June 15, the TMDSAS participating medical schools will make no offers of acceptance to individuals already holding a place in the entering class of any other medical school in Texas [emphasis mine].
