I just finished my first year at Baylor. I am in between trips to West and East Coast to visit family and decided to spend a little time looking into clinical rotations while I have some free time instead of trying to think about it during Blocks 7-8. Does anyone from Baylor have any advice for the order of rotations? I am interested in peds or IM. Is there any value to scheduling certain rotations in relation to taking the UMSLE in Feb-Mar? I was thinking that ending with path before my study time might help.

Hi,
I am a third year at Baylor. Your question is one that many people have, but in the long long run it really does not matter which order you do rotations. That said, if you want to do Pedi save it for last after you do medicine. You will be more prepared for it. To start, I would get core rotation you do not want to do out of the way like ob/gyn, surgery, psych. The key is to have taken medicine before you take the boards. Save the rotation you want to do till your third year after you have got the feel of the wards. Finally, good luck with block 7 and 8. Heme/Onc is a bitch!
