I haven't read much about this, nor have I heard anything in regard to my question.

Do some schools favor BCP over sGPA (or vice versa)?

The reason that I ask is my BCP GPA (without +/-) is 3.19 and my sGPA (without +/-) is about 3.3+.

I freaked when I saw the 3.19 BCP!

Does anyone know what the U of MN looks at?

Good question...anyone? I'm curious as well. 👍

I couldn't tell ya whether MN looks at sGPA or BCP but if I remember correctly, the poll that was published in the 2009 Guidebook to Dental schools, most schools weigh BCP heavier than sGPA. Don't quote me on that but I'm pretty sure.

i think it varies from school to school. if you're worried call up and ask UMN to see which is weighted more, they should be happy to answer any questions for you

i had the opposite problem, BCP significantly higher than sci (only difference was calc and i suck at math) so i called to check 🙂

Maybe I should contact the school... I hate to keep bugging them though :scared:

The reason my BCP is so low is only because of two classes: ochem and an oddball upper level taxonomy class.

Mind you, I dominated ochem on the DAT (98 percentile).

I just wish the adcoms would see it 🙄

if you beasted the orgo on the DAT i'm sure they'll be forgiving 🙂

I sure hope so!

I took ochem my freshman year at the University...

I think I bit off more than I could chew:

Calc II
Physics
Ochem
and a couple non-sciences.

I was so sure that I could breeze through ochem I paid little attention to it. LOL, I learned my lesson. 🙁
