How long did it take you to study for BCPS? How did you approach it? Any advice?
Thanks!

122 as the cutoff, that sounds a lot like the 2009 & 2010 instead of 2011. So tired of waiting. Sending this stuff in the mail is terrible. Really nervous.

OMG ...122 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then really from the bottom of my heart good luck everyone........

I just crapped myself when I saw 122

Why so much higher this year ? there were so many more people that took the test this year. I thought it would be lower. I really don't think they way BCPS does it is really not very fair. There should be little more consistency to it.

Last year might of been a fluke. But more people that took the test could of raised the score to pass too. With that low passing score last year. People were all. "If that guy can pass so can I" and everyone and their mom came out to take it.

Now I am not so sure I passed this. I passed the California boards on the 1st try when it was Part essay and part multiple choice. but I am not confident anymore. If I didn't pass, I will just take it again next year but it is really a nuisance, more than anything.

I think in 2010, pass rate was very low like 42 % passed, I believe. and passing score was very similar to this year. Only problem with this is my Idiot collegue, clinical manager will think he is some kind of smart person since he passed last year. and look down on those who didn't pass this year. When in reality, he just got lucky by taking it on the right year. This is just kind of silliness that I wanted to avoid.

:)

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally, he decided the anim
al was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.

A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.

2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.

3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.

4. Give more.

5. Expect less from people but more from yourself.

I emailed BPS to find out when the scores will be mailed out and the reply I got was I should receive my score in the mail in early December. Has anyone heard anything different? The waiting process is really terrible

Just take everything you see in this thread with a grain of salt. Until you see a bunch of people posting they got their results who knows what the pass cut off was.

Why would someone post 122 unless that is what was told to them BCPS ?

Yea or post something like pass score was 83. that would make us feel better.

So the crap will hit the fan by monday while the people are at mid year suffer. Just call home and ask. "How is the envelope addressed?"

What do you mean crap hit the fan ? Where is that positive attitude ? I think everyone here will be showered with early Christmas gift from BCPS that will make them rejoice and go forward in life with renewed vigor.:)

Results received today, but I also live near DC.

Passing Score: 122
Average Score: 130
Range: 50-188

Good luck to everyone!

It's listed on the bps website under " board certified phamacist search". That does not get updated until a LATER time! Good luck all!

I have never seen such anticipation in my whole life. Last time I seen this was when I took the California board exam when it was still essay and multiple choice and it was even harder than the BCPS exam. I wonder why this is ? It does not really affect our jobs directly so I am kind of curious ? I thought BCPS was hard but I thought the California board exam in the old days was even harder.:)

Has anyone else received the results? And does it really say BCPS on the outside of the letter if you passed? I almost don't want that because you'll know the result without even opening the envelope.

:(still im waiting, i think will take time because im in the UAE ,still i dont know why they are not sending it by e-mail and mail At the same time ?anyway,my friend told me that you can know if you passed without opening it by putting BCPS beside your name on the envelope .
Good luck everyone:thumbup::thumbup:

any body take the BCPP, is the cut off for passing the same for all exams

Dude. Use common sense. What do you think?

I'm going to assume maybe some more people got results today but are too distraught to post. I will be the same way. See you in next year's bcps thread. :what:

Don't sweat it folks. I am sure you guys all did great and passed. but for whatever reasons, if you didn't, its not the end of the world. It is just a test, nothing more, nothing less. It's nothing special.

Phil Simms, super bowl winning quarterback from Washington redskins had this remark after winning the super bowl. When asked by a reporter, " Phil, is this one of the most special days of your life ? Phil Simms replied, " No, don't get me wrong, I am happy that we won and happy for my teammates, but I can think of many more special days in my life, other than this day", and he added " If it is so special, why do we have it every year ?" :)

Looks like by my score I should have taken it last year

You got your letter already ? This means I will most likely get it tomorrow or Monday. Like I said, it is just a test. and I have friends who are clinical specialists at UCSF and MD Anderson cancer center that didn't pass their specialty boards the 1st time. so sometimes it just doesn't happen the first time. a lot of different factors figure into that.

Yep today in TN. Try studying or lack of quality study with a 2 and 4 yo ;). Try try again!

I am 100% sure you will get it next year. does the envelop look thinner if it is not a pass versus a pass. sounds like a silly question, I know.

I actually was working last night, and my husband called telling me the envelope was there. It just had a window in it like a bill would look. My name is just my name, but I don't generally fill out things with Dr. ___________, PharmD. He read me the results.

I know I will pass next year. There's a flavor to the test and how the questions are worded. I will also know the guidelines backwards and forwards and also have a calculator that won't die during the kinetics questions. Seriously, I hate that I trusted a cheap made from china walgreens crappy calculator. I rushed during my lunch break buying another that I didn't need. Also, we weren't given the sheet that other test sites were given with conversions. We didn't have that. I believe next year they will standardize that.

Honestly I think I would have passed this year had my calculator not died (2 questions), hadn't missed the ones I knew for sure for sure (you know the kind where you walk out saying, "man! why did I mark that I knew that one!"

LOL

Tricky tricky.

I just hope that anyone that took it that really needed to pass it for whatever self-worth reason passed. I went into it thinking I would have to take it twice just because I've been out of school since 1999. So much has changed.

Oncology results arrived in Chicago yesterday. Less then 50% passed. Average = 130. Pass = 135. Ouch!

 still in shock. I'm in Chicago and I got my results yesterday. I thought the test was extremely difficult and was hoping for a pass score similar to last years. The letter had my name followed by "BCPS" showing in the window, no PharmD though. I knew I passed when I saw that and ripped the envelope open right there outside in the dark. I spent several days after the exam really upset because I studied a lot and sacrificed the time I wanted to spend with my baby. Poor thing watched a lot of Baby Einstein on "repeat". I worried because I graduated in the 90's and had not done any residencies. I did not go to the review course but I purchased the study materials and the mock exam. I studied 2-3 times a week from April to July for about 2 hrs each session, then in August and September increased to 8-10 hrs a week until the test. It was hell! I went through all the chapters 2-3 times and listened to the lectures on my commute to and from work. I studied stats the hardest and read the Gaddis articles twice. If anyone wants them, let me know. I scored in the 170's on this exam and still can't believe it. No lie, I really thought I failed and was praying for a 123 ever since I saw that 122 was the passing score.
Good luck to everyone! Congratulations if you already know you passed! Anyone know this years pass rate?

Congrats!!! I passed too. I reviewed all of the study materials (ACCP) three times. During the last week, I focused on chronic disease states and stats. Good luck to everyone!

Congrats! i have passed too. I don't have any publications or posters. Wondering if bcps will substitute instead of publications and posters for my residency application.

BCPS 2012
Pass 122, Avg 130 Range 50-188

Domain 2 Max 50 range 6-48, Avg 33
Domain 3 Max 30 range 3-30, Avg 20

Now I have to pay $100 every year.

Finally got my score report after stalking my mail man the last two days! I passed!! Congrats to everyone who did and good luck to those still waiting!
