Hi can people who have used Becker eCoach Pharmacology comment on it? How did you integrate it into your Step 1 study?

I've heard that it's taught by the same guy (Lionel Raymond) who made the Kaplan pharmacology videos a while back. Can people verify that this is true? How does the new Becker eCoach resource compare to his old Kaplan videos?

Thanks.

I can't compare to his old Kaplan videos because I didn't use them. I have the becker videos now just for pharmacology (which are great!) bc my school is horrible in pharmacology. He does a really good job of teaching you what's important. It takes longer than you think to do each part but he really goes through it and hits everything that's necessary. Good to teach you when you have no experience etc. Not good for a quick review.

Thanks for the information. Do you know approximately how long it will take to go through all his lecture?

Also, how is using the online book? Do you actually annotate it while watching the lectures or is it more of a summary to use after going through the videos?

Hey, I bought it a couple months ago unfortunately school drowned me with work that I didn't have much time to use it extensively. I like it overall, but I feel like it's definitely a lot less explanation than those given by my school (my pharm profs range from excellent to really hard to understand).. When I had a tough prof, I used it a bit and I liked having stuff being explained to me in a different way.

I haven't gone through all lectures so I can't comment on how long they take. I've mostly been using them to supplement if I didn't understand something.

I'm actually not a huge fan of the online book (I'd rather like a PDF that I can have a copy of and scroll through anytime I want without the Internet..) The online book is nice and lets you annotate and such and the notes will be saved when you log in the next time. It was an adjustment for me for sure

There are 50 chapters overall. Each chapter has between 3 and 12 pages so it's different each time. I just randomly clicked on one chapter which was 3 pages and page 2 was 6 minutes 54 seconds. Some pages are much shorter at like 1-2 minutes (usually the summary pages), and some are longer like 13 minutes etc. I'm not sure how long it would take to get through it all. I mostly use it for pharm lectures I don't understand or that are hard to me personally. If I understand it, I definitely don't waste time using Becker bc it takes too much time imo for just a simple review. Side note: It is BOARDS targeted. So it will leave out stuff that your professors are looking for. It covers more than enough for boards though.
