I know I want my MPH. That much I have figured out. However, I was under the impression (perhaps I created said impression myself) that to be a nurse/doctor/some kind of medical professional with a license was umpteen million times more advantageous than just to have an MPH.

For what it matters, I'm looking primarily at UIC's MPH program, with their Community Health Sciences emphasis. I would like to work with sexual health education in Latino communities, especially with first generation Latin American teenage girls. Should I be a nurse to teach these girls about their period and about safe sex, or doesn't it matter at all?

It depends in the organization and position. Some places want an RN others an MPH. Just an FYI there are a few professors at UIC whose major interests are in health behaviors and attitudes among Latinos. It may help to get in contact with them for more info.

Do you have names? I'd love to get in touch with someone about it.
