I am not sure where I heard this from, but I was told that residency programs don't prefer residents to be pregnant and give birth while they are in the program. Is that true ?

I am pretty sure its not really legal to state something like this...

this will vary from program to program and specialty in general. I have definitely seen pregnant residents before

You can only miss a certain amount of time before you have to re do the year. This is a standard number for every program. But as long as you don’t miss more time than is allotted, it doesn’t really matter what’s going on in your personal life.

I don't know much of anything really. I would think if a pregnancy causes a ton of work load to be shifted to other residents then people wouldn't take too kindly to that. Oral surgery residency sounds like this would be an issue sharing call.

I had plenty of food babies in residency. Never was a problem.
