I am wondering if you guys know if a school gives you any preference for this cycle if you were put on the waitlist last year and were not able to get in. i told them in writing that i want to keep the file active and they sent me a letter saying that i am waitlisted for fall 2004!!!! then they wanted me (and other waitlisted people) to just updat our stuff through an in-house application and submit to extra fees.

Does this sound promising to you at all?? please advise.

Comet, did Mrs. Knowles ask you to send another application fee?

nope, she didnt.
on top of my application said "fee waived" .. with her initials under it.

So Comet, I don't understand. Are you technically on NYUs waitlist for 2004 or is it still possible for you to get an interview and admission for NYU without being on waitlist?

Why would NYU waitlist again right away when u were waitlisted last year?

I thought being on the waitlist was basically saying, "ok, you're cool and we like you so we arent gonna reject ya, but there are better applicants this year"

However, as a new application cycle starts, I would expect them to say, "hey if your on the waitlist, you must not be an idiot and we obviously think you are capable of succeeding, so since you are front of the line now, COME ON DOWN (RIP Rod ROddy)"

savvysearch,
no more interviews for me this cycle. my 2003 waitlisted status is updated to 2004 wait-list!

avingupta,
thanks for the kind words. i really hope that is what is going to happen. despite all the controversy, i really like NYU and would love to go there.

didn't someone here on SDN get admitted to Tufts in sept bec they were on the previous cycle waitlist???

What's with that??? Being put in the wait list for next year and getting admitted? Is this an indication that that person was ranked pretty high in the wait list??😕

I've actually only heard of this happening twice--so I think it is a *VERY* rare occurence.

aahhh! That makes sense.

As critterbug mentioned, that someone was me. Also, SallyUBC was given acceptance for next year after being on the waitlist at Case from the last application cycle.

I was told that I was one spot away from getting accepted to the 2007 class, so yes, I was ranked high on Tufts' waitlist. Off the top of my head, I think there were about 60-70 total applicants on the waitlist, so I feel rather lucky!

i heard that someone was on the waitlist at Tufts for three cycles and then finally got accepted last year.

i don't know how true this is though.

after looking at some of the interview feedbacks, some people have said that they wish they knew that they were interviewing for the alternate list before going to their interview.

i am wondering if the schools really do this kinda thing. do they really invite you for an interview and not tell you that its for the alternate list?

i called Meharry and asked if i was interviewing for the alternate list or just the regular pool (since its in Jan) and they told me that its not for the alternate list and that they will decide where i belong after the interview.

Perfect,

Most schools do inform you in their invitation if it is for an alternate list, but some don't. At my BU interview, they told us first thing when we entered the room.
