Hello, all!

So I'm wondering if I should take Orgo 2 at some point.

I only took the first semester because many schools are allowing biochemistry in its place. My chem/phys section was my lowest section on the MCAT, but still decent (127). I don't know whether I'm just being crazy and neurotic, but I am worried it will look bad if I don't take orgo 2. Thoughts?

I really don't want to take it because I'm applying this cycle and working full time so it would have to be a night class and that just seems like too much right now.

Thanks!

Unless I'm mistaken, a 127 is a 10 on the old scale, which shouldn't raise any eyebrows by itself.

I don't think it inherently makes you look lazy, but it was a risky move. But since it all turned out fine (127 is a perfectly acceptable score for chem/phys) you should be in the clear.

Edit: how many schools don't require Orgo 2? I didn't come across this when I was picking schools to apply to.

A lot of schools don't seem to require it. I know that for example UMass, which actually does seem to require org0 2 according to MSAR, told me that moving forward they will accept biochem instead. I'm planning on making more calls/emails to admissions departments to see if that's the case for the others I plan to apply to, but I'm hoping it won't be a huge issue.

Ahhh I see, must be a new thing with some schools. Best of luck! 🙂
