Benchmark studies in Ophthalmology

I am preparing to start my ophthalmology residency in two months and would like to get a head start by studying some of the recent (and not so recent if still applicable) benchmark studies that are important in the current practice of ophthalmology. If any of the attendings or other residents on this site wouldn't mind giving me some examples that you have come across in your experince, (name of study, author, journal, etc) I would be very appreciative. Thank you for your time.
