I was just wondering if you guys could give some insight on what are some of the benifits of an OD/MS degree. I know some schools (like OSU) offer a combined degree program where you can earn your OD and MS degree at the same time. What are your overall emprssions of this? Is it helpful? I know that its mostly for Dr.'s who wish to do research or teach, but are there any clinical applications as well? What about earning your PhD after that?? Thanks

The MS and PhD Is important for education, or if you want to work as a research OD for companies like Allergan, B&L, Alcon, etc. The PhD is probably the best asset to have for research because grants would be easier to get with an O.D., PhD. Most research studies are clinical .
