Hey I'm narrowing my choices on schools, but what are your top 6 schools for a low GPA applicant to apply to? No matter the location or cost, just the 6 schools with the best chance of admission with sub 3.0 GPA. Thanks

Okay, seriously check out: predents.com . You can sort through the information you are seeking there.

if you're an under-represented minority with strong community service, definitely apply to howard and meharry 👍

if you're a regular white guy... well, i know this isn't what you want to hear but i can't think of one school for a sub 3.0, 18 AA applicant, let alone six. perhaps you could apply to a post-bacc program to boost your GPA and/or retake your DAT before you apply to dental school.

Ok, I know there are no GOOD schools to apply to with sub 3.0, but what are your top picks for low GPA? NYU is obvious choice, but what are some others?

NYU, BU, Temple, UNLV, Howard. Meharry,Arizona,...there are others

Icemandds, I've been reading these boards for a while. Aren't you the one that has applied three times and still hasn't gotten in? I hope it works out for you this time. Good luck.

Detriot Mercy, Indiana, Temple, NYU, BU, Creighton

I'd apply to those before trying UNLV or Arizona. Just my opinion. 🙂

I would highly recommend purchasing the Official Guide to Dental Schools for 2006-2007 cycle.

Realize that average stats only take you so far. I think the OP is asking which schools would look more favorably on increasing grade trends, high DAT scores, good extracurriculars and post-baccalaureate work, things that low-GPA applicants tend to have (Because we need to 😉)

For instance, I know Nebraska in some cases looks only at your upper level GPA, but I'm still not sure if they take many out of state applicants from states that don't have agreements with them (I'm working on that though 😉)

Hi Iceman,

To answer your question, for the schools that have the lowest average entering requirements, I highly recommend you buying the ADEA's guide to dental schools. In this book, it will tell you all the average entering gpas of the schools in the nation.

I don't believe that there are any bad dental schools in the US. I think they are all good! All schools are fully accredited and graduates all have an equal opportunity to work in this country after their done. Remember, your patients won't care where you graduate from (in fact they'll probably never ask). They will only care about how well you treat them.

All schools have their advantages and disadvantages. Since you mentioned NYU, I'll tell you (after visiting the school), it had beautiful facilities and is probably one of the best funded dental schools. I'd be happy to go there.

Good luck!

are u a GA resident? give MCG a shot..u never know! Good Luck!
