This question goes out to residents and above: Where did you get your embroidered lab coats? Did your institution provide them to you, or did you have to get them yourself? ....Can't wait to have a long lab coat that says :

John Smith M.D., Ph.D.
Department of Surgery
Professor of Badassology

Then why did you post it in the medical student forum as opposed to the resident/attending forums elsewhere on here?

A residency in Badassology must be a mixture of martial arts, emergency surgery, demolition, and espionage.

I'm logging onto FREIDA while there's still time!

I got my first white coat during the white coat ceremony. Second one after our medical school merged with a state university. Third one with the embroidery I got through through one of the clubs by paying ~$40.

Hmmm...I guess my understanding of how the postings work was incorrect. I've always just posted here because I'm a medical/graduate student and I see residents answering questions here. I thought the forum designation was to guide users where to post, and didn't know if I should post in the resident/attending forum or not as a med student. Note taken.

You're lame

Proud to be lame!

It's depressing and sad to me when a grown man gets this much of an erection over a little bit of embroidery on a white blood shield.

Half chub man, half chub. Notice I left my specialty of interest out and broadly said "Department of Surgery" - because if I wrote the whole thing out with my full speciality of interest...well then I'd be a steel rod. The internet is the only place where I can talk about the petty things that get me excited without worrying about people noticing my character flaw. But to be honest.... I WANT MY LAB COAT lol... thought about ordering one before I graduate just to hang in my closest, but....I thought that might be bad karma so I backed off the idea. And to further nerd out...I will be taking a well deserved study/laboratory break tonight to watch the movie Frozen!

the best lab coat- one with nothing on underneath it.

:borg:

Hmmm....for my hairy bodied self...this sounds like a lawsuit.:bear: <-- This face because I can't find one for a Gorilla...which is the primate that my hairy self resembles.

The excitement wears thin pretty fast. It goes from being some mark of pride to just a piece of gear that you hate having to launder in weeks. Personally, I hate lab coats- they're nice for the pockets, but with smartphones nowadays there is really very little you have to carry on you aside from a couple pens and your phone. Just give me a set of scrubs any day.

I know this to be true. I wear a lab coat everyday... it just doesn't say anything on it...I am excited to have my name on my coat finally with my degrees...but I assure you my enthusiasm on the subject IRL lacks in comparison to that portrayed on SDN.

there's this thing called sewing where you can get your name put on your coat now. might as well extend the chub years
