What material really delivered on the buck so to say, that really was an indicator of the actual PCAT exam?

The Pearson's practice exam. I would have left the exam crying if I hadn't taken that first. I had a false idea of what kind of math would be on the exam because the Kaplan book was so inadequate on that section. Kaplan did do a good job on bio and general chem though so you might want to look into that book too.

There isn't one magic guide when it comes to the pcat. You have to use a combination of guides/books. I used Collins, Kaplan, Pearson, AP books and textbooks. You cant just study with one guide and expect miracles.

That's true. You do need a variety of sources. I had to scrounge for math info on the internet because I don't have old precalc textbooks. I used Schaum's General, Organic, and Biological Chemistry book for the organic chemistry. I had only taken organic I in school but there is some info about organic II on the PCAT. It had enough info to be useful but was not detailed enough to be overkill.

The kaplan book prepares you well for the test but you will need to learn about the first semester of ochem in order to do well on the chem section.

I didnt know how much ochem was on the test and that really hurt me on exam day.

Practice working quant and chem fast.

+1 on Pearson PCAT practice tests. I haven't taken them myself, but there are many people who say that its the closest thing possible to the actual exam (since it's the same company who makes the PCAT). Also, Collins worked well for me.

Kaplan is good for bio, but not great on everything else. Barrons was too easy.
