Which would you rank as the best program on the west coast? There are really only two legitimate choices. Where would you go?

this is a ridiculous survey. both are solid programs with overlapping and individual strengths. One would be blessed to get into either for path residency.

i do think that they are the top 2 programs in the west coast, with UCLA and Univ of Wash as candidates for next in line (in no particular order).

There is a typo on your poll. You misspelled UCLA as "Stanford." UCLA is all capitals and does not have an s, t, n, f, o, r, or d in it. You are also missing the letters U, C and L.

I learned that my geography is wrong... the area known as "west coast" refers to an area I previously described as the San Francisco bay area...

University of Washington is a top-tier on the West Coast. And that's quoting a world-renowned attending at one of the two institutions mentioned by the OP.

That is true uw is a solid #3 with Oregon and the so cal programs duking it out for fourth but like slusugar said ucsf and Stanford are without a doubt #1 and 2 when judged by multiple criteria.

IMO Stanford used to be number 1 with faculty like kempson dorfman and warnke but ucsf has upped the academic ante in recent years and it is located in the heart of one if the greatest cities in the world while Stanford is in the middle of suburban sprawl.

Agreed...this is similar to debating whether the kid with the 15 inch penis is more manly than the kid with the 14 inch penis while failing to realize that girth is important as well.

Maybe or maybe not....

Like SLUsugar said, UCSF and Stanford are the best in the west, but they are very different. Then it sort of gets down to personal preference, like the fact that UCSF is in the middle of one of the world's greatest cities, while Stanford is in the burbs and might as well be in a suburban nightmare city like Las Vegas or Phoenix except at least palo alto has proximity to SF while Phoenix and Las Vegas have proximity to desolation.

The best breakfast food: scrambled eggs with blueberry pancakes on the side - hold the bacon and sausage to make it slightly healthier - leave for work and find that your spouse has washed the dishes when you return
