Best Psychiatry Book?
Started by tadalafil09
I liked the First Aid + Case Files combo.
Is blueprints any good for psych? I loved it for peds!
felt blueprints was way to elementary...didn't like it at all...but it could just be me.... pretest is enough
Case Files was really good. I also read the book my school recommended, Andreasen & Black's Introductory Textbook of Psychiatry, but I don't really recommend it. Parts of it were written very poorly, and I don't think it covered much more ground than Case Files despite being much longer.
Case Files + Lange questions + pretest= 87 raw score (scaled to honors by my school)
Edit: I also guessed on a lot of the questions about organic brain disease. If I were to re-do it I'd read through HY neuro or something like that, because this stuff isn't covered by case files.

I have my psych shelf in 2 days and am having a reallly hard time finding motivation... on one hand, its probably the easiest shelf exam of M3 year. But that's what makes it so dangerous: its VERY easy not to take it seriously, blow it off, and make stupid mistakes. Hopefully I can buckle down tomorrow and make it worth it...
What about for review questions? I heard Lange was good, but what about Pre-Test?
I did some Pretest a day before and thought it was much better than casefiles. If I had to do it all over again I would concentrate on Pretest. FA was enough as a text, and it is very short, so you can read it in a couple of days or a weekend. What about for review questions? I heard Lange was good, but what about Pre-Test?
