56 yo WM, former prison inmate, with large 5" x 6" blue arrow tatooed inferior to the navel and pointing into his groin. Above the tattoo was tattooed the word "Cream."

15 yo AAM with tatoo across pubis "Don't be a playa hayta."
 
A white male (former soldier judging by the other tattoos he had) with Arabic writing across his shoulders about 2" tall......the Jordanian ED doc on duty started laughing when he saw the guy. We all looked at him and he said, "Oh, right....none of you speak Arabic, and apparently neither does he. The best translation for that is "I like to suck cock".

No but I've seen the opposite. A necklace tattoo (one of about 20 on the guys chest so it kind of got lost in the mix) that said, "Dear Mr. Undertaker, Please Try CPR One More Time." The irony is that he was DNR (HIV/HepC/ESLD). When we talked code status I had to confirm that we were to go against his tattooed wishes.
 
Okay, did 4 weeks at the county medical examiners office. The number one commonality that I found with most of the cases is that they were tattooed.
I think one of the doctors collected evidence for the likelihood that you would end up in the medical examiners office vs. # of tats. He said he had a positive coorelation.

Anyhow, Had one Dead on scene, late 50s F, with a "NO CPR" in red with "Do NOT Recitate" on the next line in black and her signature across her chest. Not a legal document and if it is self inflicted, you'll still get coded.

Lots of other tats, but nothing terribly exciting. Snakes, Our lady of guadalupe, pechecos, Names. The names, I don't get. Didn't kindergarten teach us how to spell our names.😀

The best part was a scroll waving its way over the top of the flags with a single word in large script: REDNECK

I was draining this dude's perianal abscess last weekend, and he had a nice tat (looked like prison quality) on his R cheek that said "Tiny's Bitch." I wanted to ask who Tiny was, but I did not want to bring up a sore subject, no pun intended.
 
how common is the teardrop tatoo with you guys? i've seen about 4 people with them.

I seem to recall hearing that this is a prison tat - something about each teardrop representing a year in the joint.

I did a month of rotations in the Texas prison system and I was told that the drop outline represented an attempted murder and when they were filled in it represented a completed murder.

I don't know if its true or not, but its what I heard.

The teardrop in hispanic gnags represent a murdered homie, in a biker gang it is number of times thrown in prison.
Also, a spider web tattoo on an elbow in a biker gang represents a racial killing. the "1%er" tattoo on arms is also a sign of a biker gang.
We have a large biker population during the summers and usually see a few through the year. Usually are nice guys, but knowing what the tats mean make me avoid them as much as I can.

an open teardrop means a "fallen homie" and a closed teardrop means the murder has been avenged.

The best tattoo i saw was a white guy with "thug life" across his stomach.
 
Best tattoo -

Suburban "wanna-be", now in hands of law enforcement, with a homemade six pointed star and pitchforks with his initials around it, on the LEFT side of his chest.

Now, for those of you not from Chicago, mimicking the Gangster Disciples symbol but gracing it with your own initials is not likely to make a suburban white boy popular in the joint; but putting folk nation symbols on the left side, yeah, that isn't going to help either...

Back when I was a corrections officer (read: Jailer) we had to do strip searches on intakes. I've seen too many tats to recall but the one of "arent you lucky" tatooed over a guy's junk was one of the funnier ones.

One 19 y/o female brought in for cite and release on possesion of pot had that bullseye on her lower back that was mentioned above. I kid you not, an actual honest to God three-ring, multicolored, tribalized bullseye. Complete with numerical points values.
As she was being brought in from the sallyport she was telling the cops "I'm not a snitch or a slut, ok?"

Go figure....

My last roomie got that as a tattoo on his one arm. Is other arm is a picture of a guy pointing a gun at you. Comfortable living.

I've talked to a few old SS guys.....it is kind of eerie, especially since they were all so damn nice.
