hello all,
i will be a junior this upcoming year. I will be starting to study for the DATS this summer. When is the best time to take the DATs for the first time? If I dont do well I of course plan on retaking the DATs.

ALso, do you guys think that taking the KAPLAN course is worth it and helpful? When do you think i should take the course?

I think you should take the kaplan course bc they will teach you some time saving tricks that is very helpful. I think you should called kaplan asap...and register for the course so that you could get your test prep materials before the actual course starts and get a head start on studying. Its very important if you do decide to take the kaplan course, that you do all of the assigned hw, you have to be very consistent. Summer is the best time to study for it. Thats what I did. Many people take the DATs a couple days after the Kaplan course ends..but i recommend studying atleast 3 more weeks even more after that course finishes and then take the DATs. Good luck

Take it when your ready.

i didn't take the kaplan course, but i've heard from multiple people that it's really not worth the money and time. what is great tho is the material that they provide you, as tuftsdent said. i got my hands on them from someone who had taken it previously.

i think it's really up to you and how you feel that you learn best (and if you can afford the price)... whether it be in a more structured setting or on your own.

good luck.

Study your butt off and do it ASAP. Make sure you're ready. THe sooner you get all your paperwork in there better your chances no matter who you are.

So, my question is, when is the LATEST you can take it and still be alright, interview wise, and of course, acceptance.
