over here they dont do psych/obgyn/paeds + surg/med all in 3rd year (like they do in carribbean schools), usually everything is split between 3rd and 4th year, so whats the best time to do step 2? and whats the best time to do a clinical rotation in america? do irish schools give credit for american rotations?

In UCD you do all of Med, Surg, Paeds, Ob/Gyn in your penultimate year. It's one of their advantages. Psych is easy enough to learn on your own but you will get a few weeks or even the entire rotation before you write your CK.

I would do CS in August, CK and EE in September of final year.

thanks for the reply, as i see here https://sisweb.ucd.ie/usis/w_sm_web...programme=BHMED007&p_website_mode=PROSPECTIVE

i can take med 1 and 2 and surgery in 3rd year, and along with that 2 of (obgyn, psych, paeds) which are the "core" US rotations, so i guess this is good :O! i actually thought that their system would be like UCC (which is all over the place) even though im from cork, i think i'll be better off going to UCD.

any info on how its done in UL specifically? i think my top choice would be UCD (2012 grad entry), RCSI second, UL or UCC 3rd/4th
