All Branch Topic (ABT) Best way to approach Civilian FM Programs in scramble if only selected for 1 year of PGY Training?

So applied FM, interviewed, audition and ended up being deferred for civilian side training, but for only one year. Presumably everyone does TY, but been trying to go into FM and tried to SOAP into TY/Prelims instead of 3 year FMs but there's still a number of categorial FM positions remaining, and probably will be shortly after this post. Pre-soap every single FM program I've contacted with only one exception doesn't do contracts for one year of training. And that one exception I've found didn't make their rank list.

My spouse said I should just contact them without mentioning it, but eventually I'll have to make sure it's ok by them. How did others approach this issue?
