Best way to internalize metabolism for boards

I've been doing well in biochemistry exams but cannot seem to retain the information on the specifics of metabolism. I didn't set out to dump the info but I can't seem to keep it in my head. Any suggestions? The only reason I know this is that I'm running through firecracker and just feel like the answer is on the tip of my tongue but can't actually come up with it. I'm only a first year so I have time, just don't wanna get behind on this type of stuff especially since it has so much basis moving forward. Thanks!

Mnemonics. Make some catchy mnemonic to help you remember the progression of the krebs cycle for instance.
