Hey all, I have decided to finish up the rest of my secondaries. I have yet to shadow a DO but have contacted a local DO who is willing to let me shadow them. One of my secondary essays specifically refers to shadowing a DO and what I have learned. I am wondering how many days of shadowing would be appropriate to answer this question given that I am hoping to submit ASAP. I was hoping 6 days? I will definitely continue shadowing after submitting either way and so I am just wondering what is the best in this situation as I know there is a general rule to complete before Thanksgiving. Thank you.

Depending how many hours per day you would be shadowing the physician, you could gain a lot of exposure covering your response in the secondary. It would be up to you to determine if what you wrote is consistent enough with your exposure to the field. So I would just put the shadowing in hours format and not by days.

Thank you. I was advised to have 100 hours. So I am hoping to do around 50 hours when I submit and then add it as an ongoing activity. I am just wondering if I there is a certain type of exposure that happens after 100 hours or if I can demonstrate enough understanding with fewer hours.

50 is perfect!
