Hi everyone

I am a Canadian DDS student. I intend to practice in the US as a GP after graduating. I'm not sure which of the four states—California, New Jersey, North Carolina, and Massachusetts—offers more in the way of less saturation, higher compensation, and cheaper cost of living. What other considerations should I make while choosing a choice? Sorry if this seems silly. My research is only getting started. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

They’re all great places to live and extremely different. I don't think you can look at a state and decide based on saturation or cost of living because those things are very specific to areas within the state.

If I were in your shoes I would first figure out what coast I wanted to live on. Then I would pick a state and locale that was most attractive to me. Then find the best job you can get in that area. I think it’s most important to enjoy where you live.

If finances are most important then you should consider the type of taxes in each state you’re considering. For example, California is notorious for having a high income tax.
