I had a horrible experience with Steele Supply Company. I urge all medical students to boycott them.

I ordered, by telephone, a dissection kit, six boxes of exam gloves, and four sets of scrubs. I was very explicit about each of these: the dissection kit must have a scalpel handle, with two boxes of blades that fit; the gloves were to be the dark nitrile type that is resistant to formaldehyde, and the scrubs were for a 44 waist.

They screwed up on all three items, and failed to answer my emails when I protested. They sent me a dissection kit with no scalpel handle, although they billed me for the kit I wanted. This left me in the embarassing position of being in an anatomy class without a scalpel; I had to buy one from a graduating student, and of course it was for a blade size much larger than the 200 blades I bought from Steele, so I'm undersupplied in blades now. The gloves were regular latex, although their invoice showed that they sent me the ones I wanted, and the scrubs were so large that Steele said they had to be custom made. I could have fit three of me into them, and it cost me more to have them tailored than to buy them.

The company would not answer my emails when I complained immediately upon receiving the shipment here in Belize. This is a place you should not do business with, and I advocate the lawful action of consumer boycott against them.

To be fair, I had a wonderful experience with Steele supply.

Allheart.com is also great.

I've also ordered from them a number of times without any problems. In fact, I would say the guy that runs steeles is very friendly and they offer better customer service than most internet retailers.

I ordered something from Allheart a couple years ago and it took forever to receive it.

I've never had a problem with Steele. As for AllHeart, they took a while to get stuff to me a couple of years ago but they've gotten better now that they don't use USPS anymore.

I feel like I need to add my positive anecdotal experience to this thread:

I ordered a Littmann Cardio III from this company (and I wasted some money on a fancy schmancy Welch Allyn penlight -- not the brightest move ever, no pun intended). I also purchased a Welch Allyn BP set.

I had a great experience, and the prices were the same as the "deal" offered by the reps that came around school. There was a problem with my billing info because I had moved recently, and the bank had not updated the proper address. One of the steeles.com employess called me directly to address the issue, and they sent the order after I explained the situation.
Great experience if you ask me. I would definitely order from them in the future.

I also had a bad experience: I ordered a Littmann Classic III Stethescope and paid extra to have it engraved. It was to be a present for my daughter who is about to start PA school. When it arrived I saw no engraving. Then I went back to their website to see where they put pictures of sample engravings and when I then re-checked the steth I could barely make out the engraving. It looked absolutely nothing at all like the example they post on their website. I called to ask what could be done. They said oh you ordered the mirrored finish and the engraving is really hard to see, too bad, nothing we can do. I asked why they don't have a picture of an engraved mirror finish and the rep said it is a newer product and they haven't gotten around to putting up a picture. I asked why they don't at least inform people who order the mirror finish engraving will be extremely difficult to see. She had no answer. My daughter will no doubt be buying a lot of supplies but not from this company. DO NOT PATRONIZE THEM
