During an ascitic fluid drainage...
"Take one good look at this patient. Then tell me why he has ascites."
I wasn't allowed to ask the patient any questions during this test. I noticed he was jaundiced, icteric, had an extremely protruberant abdomen, and had a prosthetic leg. Without further information, I had to stick to the most commons.
"Doctor, I would assume he was an alcoholic. Alternatively, he may have contracted HCV."
"And the prosthetic leg?"
"Trauma." (not the MCC, my mistake)
"Wrong."
He wanted me to know that he had a prosthetic leg because of diabetes, and therefore, he went into renal failure, needed a kidney transplant, and subsequently developed cirrhosis due to hepatotoxicity of immunosuppressants.
Gee, sure was kicking myself after that one.
