  1. Attending Physician
Would definately be an interesting outcome. I thought about a head bleed when they came out with that info. I like how he said that he was ok and that he has a 'hard head' in an interview after the incident.

sounds like no "lucid interval" followed by unconsciousness....I would say SDH, but an arterial bleed just took out Natasha Richardson recently, so I will go with "an arterial bleed", Alex

I'm saddened much more by the loss of Billy and Farrah than I am Michael.

1. A PE? From a 3 or less hour flight? Unless he had some underlying coag or cardiac problem a PE is highly unlikely.

2. An arterial bleed? "Lucid interal" There was no mention of any mental changes prior to going to bed so how can their be an interval-any on-off comparisons?

Correct me if I'm wrong and maybe I am but didn't the last paragraph of this article state that he's home for hip surgery? This would suggest the possible use of prescription pain meds in all likelyhood and with his added hectic schedule I'm sure the pain was worsening-hence the need to take more-maybe too much accidentally.

This is probably a case of drug interaction.

"No mention of any MS changes before bed" means squat. He wasn't being monitored. He was at home. It was pretty clear from what I have read that his family is trying to keep this as close under wraps as possible. If there was any LOC it may have been missed/misinterpreted or just ignored.

I would be surprised if pain meds were implicated.

Orthopedic surgery involving the hip is one of the most common causes of venous thromboembolism, so yes PE is a possibility.

That's what I was thinking, too, but it sounds like he hadn't actually had the surgery. From the OP's article:

Billy Mays said:
"Geez. I've been going for two weeks straight," Mays offered. "I just came from the Conan O'Brien show, just did an Oxyclean commercial up in Philly. On my way back home to have surgery on my hip on Monday. If that's the toughest part of it, I'm good."

If Gimlet's correct, it's a non-issue, but if he is far enough out from hip surgery to board a plane and go to work, he's probably not going to throw a clot from his THA.

Ah no ****!

Dah I was right and I'm not even a doctor.

Why is it that doctors can never look at the whole picture? Don't they teach this in medical school?

Scary! 😱

Oh wow, thanks for coming back two months later to clear that up. 👎

I think you are giving yourself a bit too much credit. I did not read in your post that you thought he had an MI due to longstanding abuse of cocaine. The prescription pain drugs found in his system were all noted by CNN to be at therapeutic or sub therapeutic levels. Explain to me how you think that you were right about this.

You are well on your way to being a typical malpractice attorney. False statements and arrogance based on rumor and innuendo. If you say it enough times, you may convince yourself that somehow you nailed this diagnosis. The fact that you think you did is funny enough already.

Why not just say you think he died of cardiac arrest so that you can be right every time.🙂
