People celebrated after Hitler died, would you say that was unjustified?

I agree with gujuDoc, this guy is a psychopath and I feel no sympathy towards him. What he did was unforgivable.

I don't feel sympathy for him. And like others, I don't even judge those that do. I just think it's a pretty odd reflection of our culture that we're so engrossed with this one guy that all I'm hearing on TV is information surrounding his death. I think it's strange that the death of one man is worthy of celebration.

I also think it's no different than anti-Western people celebrating when 9/11 happened.

I don't think it's so much people celebrating his death as it is people celebrating what he stood for.

For example, a lot of people might think that this signals the end of the Patriot Act/TSA and the end of the War in Afghanistan.

Obviously this isn't going to be the case, but you know...

People said the same thing when the world was after hitler. Til the US was bombed in Pearl Harbor the US stayed out of it as millions lost their lives in Germany. But the attack in pearl harbor was proof hitler was after the world, not just his area of the earth. Bin laden is no different then hitler in my book.

Erm.. might wanna check your history books as it was JAPAN that attacked Pearl Harbor.. not Hitler...

Yeah, I've read some of David Icke before...he's a bit far out. I'm not one to believe in conspiracy theories like the Illuminati and ****, but I'm sure we don't always get the full truth about everything.

The reason for the burial is logical. Islamic law requires that a body be buried within 24 hours of death. They didn't do a burial on land because no country wanted to host his grave. So they did a burial at sea.

But it's still hard to believe anything without concrete evidence.

The images we've seen of people celebrating are certainly reminiscent of it, but I don't think it's fair to say it's no different. People celebrating in the immediate wake of the death of nearly 3,000 civilians who weren't engaged in any acts of aggression is quite different from people celebrating in the immediate wake of the death of a handful of people, one of whom was the head of a formidable terrorist organization engaged in violent acts.

I pass no judgment as to whether that makes it any more or less acceptable.

Unfortunately, it's likely the opposite will occur. Both parties will point to Bin Laden's death as a vindication of US foreign policy, and seek to permanently extend the patriot act (note: <10% voted against it's reauthorization this year), and they will try to rally further public support for the wars...

Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.

It's a lot easier to hate a man than an idea. It's also significantly easier to kill a man than an idea.. and likewise much more satisfying and more appealing to the masses. It's not cultural as much as it is simple heuristic. The masses live for today and they want to party is it up over victory, not because it is great, but rather because it is a distraction from tomorrow....

Well that was probably an incoherent stream of consciousness..

So Osama was found in a hideout in Abbottabad?

Talk abbottabad place to hide!!!
