Bio 2 but no Bio 1 - missing prereq?

Really kicking myself for this one - I skipped Bio 1 but took Bio 2 with lab. I'm graduating with a degree in biochemistry this summer, so I've also taken upper level bio courses (although I'm also not really sure what really counts as upper level bio). According to their websites, most of my state schools and many of the other schools I am interested in require 1 year of "general biology with lab". Do I really have to extend my graduation/do post-bacc to take Bio 1 with lab? Thankfully I wasn't planning on applying this cycle anyway, but it's frustrating that I missed something so glaring.

You don’t need the exact Bio. 1, but did any of your other bio courses include at least 1 hour of lab?
Upper division just means a course number beginning with 3 or 4.
If you’re applying to TMDSAS its course prerequisites are the most stringent, asking for 12 hours Bio lecture and 2 lab.
You could take a bio with lab course before next year anywhere if you don’t have it in your transcript now.

Yeah I think I screwed myself here; I'll delay my graduation and take Bio 1 with lab fall semester. I have a couple upper level microbio/cell science classes and genetics which I believe doesn't count, and no lab. I only recently decided to really pursue medicine so it could have been worse, and I'll just view it as a GPA boost.

Will graduating in >4 years be a mark against me, though?

Not at all, it's pretty common when people change goals like deciding to pursue medical school midway through college.
Biochem majors have tons of biochem labs but sometimes those don't get counted as Bio labs.
It's also fine if your extra semester is not a full course load - great time to do some community volunteering near your campus and build that part of your resume.

I notice a lot of critical self-talk in your posts, try to lose the mindset of "one thing I missed will mess up everything else", it's not healthy for you to think that way

• a genetics 3000-level class, offered under "process biology" by the department of microbio and cell science
• a 4000-level biochemistry lab called "laboratory in biochemistry and molecular biology", offered by the chemistry department
• a microbiology 3000-level class with lab, offered by the department of microbio and cell science
• a virology 4000-level class, offered by the department of microbio and cell science

The microbiology lab should count
The physiology lab it’s going to depend on what schools you apply to. Some will consider classes in the kinesiology department to be an “allied health “ class and not at the difficulty level of Bio or premed courses.
