I'm using the Kaplan DAT book right now and in the notes it says that the placenta develops from the chorion, however in the practice test at the back, it says that the placenta develops from the allantois..... can anyone clear this up for me?

Thanks!

if you look in the bio section of the kaplan bio book if I remember correctly it says placenta develops from the chorion and is associated with amnion, while the umbilical cord is associated with the allantois and yolk sac.
Also I'll quote wikipedia" The umbilical cord develops from the same sperm and ovum from which the placenta and fetus develop, and contains remnants of the yolk sac and allantois"
